Hate to start a new thread but didn't want to get lost / buried in another thread. Finally saw a G550 today in person. Was surprised how similar it felt overall as they did a nice job of maintaining a balance of fit and feel. I thought the seat height was slightly higher than my G55 and the cockpit felt more than comfortable. One thing that jumped out at me that I haven't seen anyone else comment on is the fact that the 2019 Gs do not have a traditional rain guard. And the trim where the previous rain gutter existed is a fairly cheap feeling abs plastic and there is zero chance you are connecting a standard roof rack to this thing. There are four mounting points on on the roof that are covered by plastic covers that pop off (will get lost). I didn't pop these off but curious how these mount points work and what options exist for roof racks. The bumper guard covers on the back are also a painted plastic part and not metal. No big deal I guess but felt cheap to the touch.
Inside the cabin there are two odd mounting points above the rear seat door, in front of the grab handle. There are two more in the trunk area. Any idea what they are?
I didn't have a key and for the life of me I couldn't not find where the gas cap release was located. I'm guessing its on the key but curious if there is a interior latch.
Wasn't as blown away as I was hoping and was great to get back into the G55 and ride away. I think there will be three camps going forward. Those that love them both; and those that love the new & old generation independently.
Was hoping to test the stereo but with no key I cuuldn't do so. Any current owners care to comment?
Hmm, starting a new thread so that your questions won’t be included in my G Class picture thread.
The fuel filler operates in conjunction with the door locks. If the doors are unlocked, the fuel filler door is unlocked. An interesting feature, is that there is a provision for a diesel exhaust fluid filler. Too bad, the G350D isn’t an option in the states - that would have been my choice.

The strange looking hooks are for compartment separator accessories (nets & such).

The roof mounts are similar to what was on my BMWs, but rather the a bolt thread it appears to be a 90 degree pressure twist lock. The cover came off with the leverage applied by a plastic fork handle. The picture angles aren’t the greatest, but I was hanging off the side of G instead of from the top.

The cheap ABS plastic is similar to the body side molding.
Yes guys, the roof mounting pods are nice, but the plastic covers will wear out quickly, I am afraid.
We have created a very solid mounting solution for the 2019 G-wagen roof rack, and replacing the original covers with an aluminum one.
Mercedes-Benz has limited the roof load for their three roof bars to 150Kg, including the bars
