2020 G63, installed a Akrapovic exhaust! Loving it!
Hi guys. Here is a photo of my G63 with the akrapovic exhaust installed the tips were painted matte black! Bought the entire system from Craig (thank you Craig!!)

haha touché! Lol. It was too good of a deal to pass up. And the matte black tips sold me. Love the look and love the sound even more. Akrapovic paired with the dme tune is lethal. It’s fast beyond belief!

its substantially lighter. It’s made from titanium. I can hold 1 muffler with 1 hand with ease. Yes I did it my self. Very easy (and I am not handy at all) you just remove the old mufflers and install these. It would pass a smog test no problem. not that I’m required to have one because it’s a new car.
yes louder and because the car breathes much better and it adds hp and torque. Paired with my Dme tune its insanely fast. When I punch it in first gear I can barely keep the car straight. And it throws me back into my seat.

Regarding the DME tune, how easy is that to do and cost?

Yeah I totally Thought it would be too hard to do my self with out the car raised up. But it wasn’t hard at all.
DME Tune is 10 mins max. Extremely easy. Just need a pc computer. with exhaust/tune the gains are 120-150 hp/torque. Shmee does the akrapovic with renntech and his Gains are insane. Dme has a better Hp output so it should be even better. Then that. And it sounds amazing.
If you are going to touch the exhaust system, mind as well go all the way like he did.
I am just surprised how easy it is to install based on his comments. Sounds like just nuts and bolts and NO welding involved.

I am trying to understand the different components require and it appears you can mix and match different brands.....

they are heavier. But the stock ones on your G550 are likely just as heavy. So I think you will be probably at the same weight with maybe a little more due to the tips. But I don’t know for sure. This is just my theory.

I think he used akra link pipes. I only have the exhaust. I did not do any downpipes. I wanted to see what they sounded like with just the akra Exhuast/muffler. And then do pipes if I wasn’t happy. So far I’m happy. If after a month I’m not happy I’ll get akrapovic link pipes or the renntech 200 cell downpipes (they are spendy though).

Some initial thoughts after driving the G with the Exhaust a few days.
it sounds perfect with in comfort mode/closed valves. If you put your foot into it barks! But if your cruising with the family it’s the perfect growl that doesn’t annoy anyone. You can have a conversation with ease and the there is ZERO drone.
when you put it into Sport+ mode with valves open and really open up the car it cracks/pops and sounds unreal. It’s like having two totally different cars in one. Also akra exhaust paired with the DME tune is absolutely a game changer. I thought the tune was fast alone with stock Exhuast, but boy was I wrong. After the exhaust it’s crazy fast. I will dyno it later in a few months to get some real results on paper! If anyone has questions let me know!
How do you open and close the valves ?
Through a remote control that I see on their website as an option ?
What if you did not buy or have that remote, how would the valves be controlled ?

on the new G63 there is a button in the car you push to open and close the valves. With the akrapovic and many other aftermarket Exhuast it still works to open and close.
