Front Seat Organizer or Storage

I tried to search this every which way and came up with nothing. What are you guys using for storage in the front seat? Specifically a phone and sunglasses. I have seen on eBay the pockets that stick between the seat and center console, but they are a but tacky. I feel someone has something better by now. Thanks in advance!

I keep my sunglasses in the storage under the front seat, behind my legs. As for my iPhone, I wedge it in between the console and the hand brake. That's the best I could come up with.

I have an iPhone Xs Max and it slides down to the floor when I try to put it between the parking brake and console. But, that was my first thought. It is too big for the ash tray spot and too small for there. Under the seat is just a little clumsy with other things like gum, lighter, smokes and pens etc.

So I wedge against the leather handle cover, kinda at an angle so it's snug. I tried the other way and it kept falling through also. Unfortunately the storage compartments in the door are not easy to get too when your driving so that doesn't work as easily either. It's defiantly short on storage but we love our G's.

Upgraded to an iPhone XS so now I just put the phone on the driver's seat or leave it in the little pocket under the door arm rest. My old iPhone SE fit nicely in the ashtray and was just as boxy as square as the G!

I forgot about the ashtray, iPhone 7 here and it fits perfectly. As for the pocket under the door arm, I find it hard to extract. I ends up sideways sometime and I end up needing to fish it out. Maybe the larger phones work better in this location.

I bought a black and "carbon fiber" sunglass holder than clips on the driver sunshade (vanity mirror). It holds my sunglasses perfectly, never falls off, no rattles and it's barely visible.

For my cell phone, I too wedge it in by the handbrake. Not the best solution, but it always works. Sometimes, I just put my iPhone in the cup holder "basket". That works too.

Thanks for the sunglass idea. Sometimes I forget to think of the obvious things....I think I am going to try to put a strip of velcro (the soft side) under the handbrake to make a ledge of sorts to keep the phone from slipping past.

i wedge my iphone (x) inbetween the driver’s door vertical panel and the hand grip that angles at 45d; not perfect but it does stay there. i used to just put it on the dash in the left corner window above the a/c vent ,,, but that lasted about one turn! lol.

I use super thin cases to keep the already large Xs Max from feeling bigger. I do have a rubber case, but when I use it, it is too bulky for my pocket. I think I am actually going to 3D print something or try my velcro strip method.

Solution

So, I know not everybody has this ability, but this may give you an idea. The final solution: I 3D printed a small black piece of ABS, added 2 sided industrial tape, stuck it under the parking brake. Pretty simple and now I have a place for my phone. Here are some pics:

Phone Storage in 2019 G

I have always used ProClip Mounts in my vehicles to hold my iPhone. I like the ability to have my phone facing me while driving so I can glance at it and it being hands free without the fear of it wedging between the seats or end up in the floorboard. ProClip creates a vehicle specific mount then your order your phone specific mount to create a custom solution that works for you. I personally prefer the cradle mount as it’s very secure. In my wife’s Panamera I will mount a ProClip base but a Magic Mount base and secure the metal plate in the case of my phone so while in her car I can use the Magic Mount but my G will use the cradle. I will attempt to attach pics of my install and follow up with the ProClip part numbers.

Here are the pics from the ProClip page with part numbers. When I assembled and mounted I used a piece of small double sided tape on the back of the extension plate to brace it against the silver console. This provides a super secure mounting area that can take a knee from passenger or jolt. I have also included a pic of a swivel mount that you could put on top of the console mount before you mount the extension plate should you want rotate the phone angle more. I didn’t install it. I am using braided Anker Powerline+ II Lightning Cables red for the Apple Play and black for the passenger to use. I have slipped them under the passenger side center console door. These cables are a little thick but sturdy and does cause the door to not open at ease without the bulk. Tomorrow I have replacement flat cables coming (red & black) that should work without impeding center console door opening. I am also installing my Blackvue Dual channel cameras and my trusty Valentine One tomorrow.

This... is...incredible. Awesome job, I was thinking of using velcro but I didn't like the look. This is the cleanest solution I have ever seen. I'm going to look for something to use since I don't have a 3d printer.

In terms of sunglasses I have a leather sleeve that's open on one side, you can tape it to the inside of the lower door panel exposing the opening on the top. Keeps it out of the way but that way you can quickly pull it up and out and just insert it back in.
