Typically, once you have your production date then add 2-3 months before you get it. So right now Oct production has begun and those cars will be here by December to early January.

If they told you 6-9 months, that would mean that he doesn't have a PO # for you so your allocation will likely be March-April. Having specced the car does not mean that you have an allocation yet. Once the purchase order number is attached then you have an allocation with your name/build attached to it.

I just ordered my 3rd G wagon which has a PO of January so I'll see it in March to April.

How do you know what date your purchase order is for? I have a number, but do not see a date.

The order when printed from dealer should have a "Update Order" section that will list Decade planned and Decade scheduled and Production date.

I attached a photo of my previous order for a G63 that shows it.

There aren’t any sitting on lots, even above MSRP.
In Canada, you’ll pay MSRP (and actually significantly below any other price in the world), but the wait is 2-3 years.
In the US, you can get one in a few months or perhaps sooner, if you’re willing to pay $30-50K over MSRP.
Not sure how long the wait is if you don’t want to pay over list.
One challenge is that most dealers will tell you it’s just a few months to get your deposit, then they will keep pushing the delivery date out.

Anyone that will sell at MSRP has probably a 2 yr wait list at the moment.

Try MB Manhattan. I put a deposit in April for 1yr wait. IDK the current wait time but they will sell you at MSRP.

No disrespect to the G63 owners but in my view it makes no sense. There is nothing “AMG” about the G-wagon. Slapping an AMG badge on it, wider wheels and more power does not make a true AMG.
Not only that, but you can’t even drive a G63 off road without new wheels.

I really don’t understand the point of the G63, other than showing off.

As a bonus, save ~$30K and get the car faster, probably.

Oh where to begin with this.
Yes, the G 550 is probably a better off road vehicle, no one will take either truck to Moab.
If you do, you will still need to change the tires on the 550.
The G 63 is so much faster than the 550. Car and Driver was astonished that they got one to do a 3.9 sec 0-60.
The fact that something that big and heavy can move that fast is mind boggling. Let's face it, ALL AMG models are about showing off to one degree or another.
The G wagen is a look at me truck, no question. The GLE 63 is faster and handles better and is cheaper to boot. Yet, no one is paying over list for one.

The G 63 checks all the boxes, it unique, its blindingly fast, it sounds awesome, it's relatively rare.
For the people in the demographic that can afford this rig, saving $30k is chump change.
It IS worth the wait and worth the premium.

Well put!
We can agree to disagree, however. There’s something about the more compact width of the G550 and using a vehicle as it was intended that just appeals to me more.
(I’m also fortunate enough to have a near-super car AMG, so that itch is being scratched)

I am patiently waiting especially when there is a Market adjustment of $18,000 over MSRP for a G550. Did anyone else get this from their local dealer? When's the craze going to end or should I expect to pay over MSRP?

The Market adjustment is mostly in CA. Rest of the country is selling at MSRP. Unfortunately is going to be hard to buy a G out of state

Not in NJ, I called many dealers and they are all at $25-$35K above MSRP with changeable slots that are for Dec-Jan build slots.

I am still waiting for an allocation for a G63 at MSRP. Everywhere I called is either a long line or 30-60K markup.

Nobody will sell you one at MSRP anytime soon. The stores that will have long lists already.
You can wait a year or more or you can pay the adjustment and get one sooner.
Cars are a commodity. MSRP is meaningless. You get a big discount when they are hard to sell. Conversely, you have to pay all the money when the demand is through the roof.

Yup, supply and demand is a pain. Went through the same thing with my Rolex, waited 8 months but worth it...

Ha it's funny you should mention that. I've been using the G-wagen analogy over on the Rolex forum. Its really even worse for watches, where there is such a mismatch of supply/demand that dealers sell all their inventory (of stainless, 'tool' watches) to resellers, who relist them at 2X MSRP. Thousands of pages of handwringing and consternation among the watch collecting forums. But just like MB, it would be foolish for Rolex to ramp up production just in time for the next possible recession.

@Ersatzs2 the grey market for Rolex watches is insane. No manufacturer warranty, box, or card + over MSRP was a hard pill to swallow. Rolex stopped taking orders for their Date Just model. I called every shop in SoCal weekly until I scored one.

Won't have the same opportunity with the 'G'

Text from dealer yesterday informed me 550 is now in US, awaiting shipment to dealer. So far <4 mos. from time of order.
