Current wait times on g550 & g63

Hello all,
I went to a dealer today to place an order for a g63 and was told the current wait times are 12 months for a g550 and 24mos for a g63. I ended up ordering a 550 for this very reason, but it got me thinking if these times are accurate or should I look for another dealer?

My dealer told me late summer or fall for a G 550. Although the floodgates seem to have opened as three G 63's arrived the previous day. All sold, of course. Did have my first chance to sit in one and hear it idle but unable to drive because of sold status. Very impressive. I'm going to like this ride. Will be turning in my MY 16 next month as lease expires. No G for the summer....bummer.

I think they'll be out there soon. I ordered mine a month or so ago and it''s supposed to arrive at the end of May. They say it's being built the last 10 days of April. I think my dealer has one on the way and one build available that'll arrive in July. We live in Colorado.

Depends on the market and region, where are you located?

I got a build slot (Lynnwood WA MB) for a new 2019 G550 two days ago. Magno Black with the 8 series black interior (with open pore ash). The dealership said an April 2019 build with a May 2019 delivery. So look around, they're out there. One year for a G550 and two years for a G63 seems too long.

Heard from separate NYC and NJ dealer it is a 12 to 18 mo wait for the AMG. I am good with that as I want the kinks to work themselves out.

I placed an order for a G63 last night with MB of Manhattan and was told it would be ready by early October. Definitely shop around.

You must be a good buyer Crfiv. When I asked last week they said 18mos for the AMG. :-) Did you order? If so, what did you spec it?

Well I placed an order with them for a g550 in December and changed it to a 63 this week. They transferred my deposit over and it wasn’t an issue at all (other than waiting until October vs May for delivery). I’m not sure if that has something to do with having a 550 build slot though I doubt it given how the engines are built differently (the whole hand built aspect of the AMG) but who knows?

Here’s my spec:

I ordered my G63 August 16, 2018, Dealer called today to tell me my allocation has been picked up. I believe it should arrive in about 2 months.

A gaggle of MB's
As of Feb 15 - production G63 PO's are booked thru end-May - as of today end-Mar orders are going to "Freeze" for available changes soon

Same scenario for G550's - ordered booked thru end-May - as of today end-Mar orders are going to "Freeze" for available changes soon

Polar/Red - your PO has been confirmed by Germany - noted you're in OKC - good people there - and you're in good shape at the moment

Selenite/Yacht-Blue - your Configure exists as a configure - for October PO confirmation you are about 4 months early - should be confirmed late July with factory PO

Mangno Night Black/Designo Black Int - your PO has been confirmed by Germany - you're in good shape too at the moment

I just called my salesman to verify when I will receive the G63 and was told mine is only scheduled for production, the completion date is first week of May and my delivery should be the first week of June. So my wait is now down to a little less than 4 months.

Dealer sent me a factory order confirmation dated 2/14 with a P# - is that different? Also how are you getting this information? Is there a site?

Does anyone have any info regarding G550 wait times in Canada? I put down a deposit in February of 2018 and have been next on the list at my dealership since November of 2018. Still no allocation.

I think it really depends on the dealership. I'm in the new York city area and you can basically get a 550 in a couple months if you walk into a dealership now.

I ordered my G550 in Canada and was told anywhere between 18-22 months. Canada has a lot less allocations than the US. Sit back relax and enjoy...let our southern neighbours work out the kinks and rattles (sorry folks had to slip that in)..by the time I get mine it will be a 2021 and may (or not) have the MBUX system. I have seen some G63 arrive in last two weeks ....really nice but overkill. And with potholes the size of moon craters the 550 is a better choice IMO.

Eagles Nest, you bring up a really good point, one that people sometimes forget (and go for looks over functionality) You really have to weigh the width of your tires if you do a lot of in-city driving. Low and wide tires are great for road trips (or the track of course) but with all these failing roads with tire grooves, wider tires track horribly and I notice I end up fighting the lane in my wider-tired vehicles.

just placed an order today for a G550, at sticker...In West Palm Beach, FL....Was told about 6 months or less... now the agonizing research to figure out what color/which AMG package/which interior/which finishers. They said I had about 90 days to finalize the build...

they said about 12 months if I wanted a G63....

any posts on there that show the inside/outside color combos???

Yeah, the order interval on the G63 is a good 12+ months. I ordered my G63, and put down my deposit, in Oct 2018. As of yet, I still do not have a production date. My dealer estimates I should hopefully see it by about Oct 2019.

My dealer told me the earliest would be around April which was back in November. So I took a deal on their last 2018 G63. I figured I would see what happens once the 2019's became more readily available.

Was initially thinking of getting a used one, but went to the dealership and saw a 2019 and looked great!!!

I put a deposit down for a 2019 and dealer said would prob be end of 2019 or early 2020. This is for dealship in Midwest US.

i bet the price for 2018s will plummet as people can compare the old vs new model.
