Help: 33” off road tires rubbing on 2019 G63

I put 33 12.5 r22 on the 22” AMG wheels. They are rubbing on the front inside fender well. Any advice? I know 12” wide wheels don’t rub. However the factory wheels are 22x10”.

1” spacers?

Show us a pic of the contact patch and this will allow us to better answer you. Also, provide the tire make, model and size.

thanks jesse

33 12.5 r 22
22x10” amg wheels

see pic for rub. Occurs at full turn. Wondering if 1” wheel spacers would help? My guy at the shop mentioned spring spacers, but I’ve heard bad things about the effect on suspension

yes, that’s what we are going to do. Going to try to heat and mold, trim as a backup if that doesn’t work.

Easy solution

after looking into it, spring spacers aren’t available yet. There is a spring lift kit for $1500 from Germany. Lifts it 40mm. I don’t want to lift my car at this point as I enjoy the factory drive and it feels great on the 33s

I have what looks like 1" spacers that came with my new wheels I didn't use them. I think they are for the G550 4X4 Sq. and meant for larger tires?? not sure if they would help. They are machined in Germany

thanks. H&R makes some 31mm spacers as well for the previous gen. I don’t think it will help the situation. But I’m going to have them put spacers on while they are trimming to fender for a better stance.

So, I don’t get it. Was the car damaged, or the tire?

The rubbing doesn’t harm anything besides the inner plastic fender trim, but it’s just really annoying when it’s on an expensive car and has to be rectified

I did some measuring and I don't see how a tire any larger than a 285/55 or 305/50 will fit on these without making contact with the inner fender well liner.

As for the liners, don't CUT them, drill a small hole and run a zip tie through them and pull them away from the contact patch.

the shop mentioned either trying to heat up the liner and push it back, but more likely doing a trim at the contact spot on the fender lining, and putting black mesh on there for cosmetic reasons

what do you think? I’ll share your insight with the shop. Dropping the car off on Wednesday

I'd try and avoid cutting it at firs and try my zip tie method as it allows you to adjust the liner. Once you cut...it's cut.

the cooiling apparatus is directly in front of the liner and its extremely tight. couldnt zip tie. they heated it up and trimmed a bit. now its a smooth rub rather than the horrible sounding rub from before.

i ordered the g-raid lift springs for 40mm lift - this will take care of it. excited for the final look. going to use wheel spacers for a more aggressive stance then
