G63 Driver Side Water Leak

Hey Guys,

Im new here and hoping the community can help me out with an issue I'm having with my truck. I have a 2013 G63 with only 45k miles. Every time it rains, I get a puddle of water in the driver side footwell underneath the carpet. It's beginning to get irritating. Its caused my driver side AMG door sill to stop lightening up. Anyone ever experienced this issue or have some suggestions to fix the problem? My AC water drips to the ground fine.

I had a mechanic blow compressed air through the sun roof drains holes and they seemed to be unclogged. I would greatly appreciate and possible solution

Has your windshield ever been replaced? There is a tendency for water to get trapped under the rubber windshield gasket and it could find its way into the cabin. Just a guess. Try looking up under the dash when it is raining or turn a hose on it to look for moisture. Good luck.

Has the vehicle been and is it garage kept? That would eliminate a clogged drain line somewhere. Guessing...

Suggestions-

If you have an antenna on the roof behind the windshield, is ti broken? Sealed ok?
I would tighten the wiper shafts, install new plastic caps with grease in them- common cause of leaks
Door seals on the body can contribute to leaks, but I think the plastic sheet installed in-between the door panel and door itself is a more common cause
I don't think your truck is old enough to need a new sunroof seal that's installed on the body, but those are another cause. But you'd see water stains on your headliner

Thanks for your help. Yes it has a small antenna in the front of the roof between the driver and passenger. By plastic caps you mean the removable end of the wiper arm towards were it bolts to the car correct? I will have my mechanic tighten the wiper shafts.
The only has 45k miles,

these guys. They crack and let water in. Replace and fill with grease.

There's an assembly underneath that seems to get loose. As long as the shaft mechanism isn't frozen you should just be able to tighten.

Thanks all. I’ve tried every possible troubleshooting but I’m still having the leaking issue. Windshield was tested and has no leaks, my driver side wiper shaft was tightened, AC drips to ground fine, drain holes in the sun roof drips fine 🤦🏽*♂️🤦🏽*♂️.

can anyone think of something else?

Hello OP. Unfortunately I don't have much to offer you regarding your problem, however you should know that these vehicles are notorious for developing rust. Water pooling under the rug is a prime way to develop rust on the floorboards (it also means water is getting in other parts of the vehicle). I would suggest garaging your G and running a dehumidifier in the garage to drop the ambient humidity as much as possible. I’d also suggest running fans under the vehicle to circulate as much dry air as possible under the car. My G started rusting around 45k miles, meaning yours might be on the way to doing so as well.

Did you ever get to the bottom of this?

Also bumping, having a similar issue. My truck has been a garage/desert queen, but moving up here to the PNW it's too big for my garage and finally living in water. and so is the footwell.

When I lived in the PNW, a rubber grommet on the firewall wasn't set and leaked water on my foot. I'm not sure about the G though, the grommet problem was on a Z06 Corvette. I think it could still happen to a G, might as well inspect it. The way a stealer would do it is they apply water and look for the leak at the same time.

It's raining plenty now, hoping the work I did cleaning out the door drains does the trick.

Just went out and checked, and the leak's still there, hate this Seattle weather.

Took everything apart and there's a steady light stream coming in from somewhere behind where the hood latch is.

Going to jump back in tomorrow morning, in the rain and take more stuff apart to find the culprit.
