Oil will only swell the rubber seal. There is nothing you can do but slow the process down by blowing any water or moisture out of there and you will eventually need a glass out repair job.
This repair is the owners right of passage to G ownership.
I sprayed WD40 corrosion inhibitor under the seal in June of 2020. Pictures then and now show that the visible corrosion hasn't progressed at all. There is no visible swelling of the seals.
I should be getting my truck back today or tomorrow. The rust will be repaired but even with aggressive drying measures in place (climate controlled garage maintained at 30% humidity + fans) some moisture will be trapped. Good paint plus corrosion inhibiting oil is the only real way to prevent rust long term.

I had a short talk with my windshield guy today and I'm thinking about installing the windshield without the outside seal, just like the newer design. I don't think that outside rubber seal has anything to do with holding the glass in place other than holding salt water in place;(, what you guys think? my glass guy thinks its possible to use different method of use of glue or style of the sealer, but do you guys think its possible?

I've read about others trying this, but because of rigidity issues with the window frame bonded glass cracks fairly easily. Not sure where I read it though. May not be an issue depending on how/where you drive but there is a risk. I would be interested in doing this also if cracking isn't an issue.
Just found out that the windscreen is backordered for a few weeks. It's a Merc OEM part and is still on a cargo ship somewhere . Unfortunately, the windscreen rarely survived being removed so I had to get a new one. Good news is, the old windscreen was pretty pitted scratched up. Bad news is, the new one costs $900.
Just finished pumping white lithium grease behind the front seal. That should keep any corrosion to a minimum.
I'll end up doing the same thing to the rear window seals too.
I'm thinking about applying Fluid-Film under the rubber and all the body panels and frame. I saw rust testing and comparisons on youtube and it protects from rust like champ.
I was washing my 17 63 yesterday and notices the rubber seal around the windshield was bumpy. I lifted the the rubber and found the paint was blistering. Finished washing the exterior, detailed the interior and drove to the dealer. 30 minutes later I left with 122k check. Sold it back to them. Unacceptable for a155k plus vehicle to rust like this. BTW I purchased my g 3 years ago for 105k. So I don’t feel that bad. I really liked it and was planning to keep it forever.

Just shows how in demand they are. You could have likely sold it privately for $50k more in this market.
The new ones seem to be much better in this regard but they are selling for crazy markups now.
