DGI’s 2005 G55 Ownership Log

Specialist found the bleeder screws for the differential lines seized up. They will soak with penetrating oil over the weekend (closed tomorrow) and go back at it on Monday.
I ordered the other stuff I need from FCP Euro and Summit Racing for the rest of the maintenance catchup game.
Summit:
3 quarts 75w90 (Differential)
4 quarts 75w140 (front and rear Diff)
FCP Euro:
Valve Cover Reseal Kit
Oil Cooler Gaskets
Oil Cap Wrench
Oil FIlter Housing Seal
Ignition Service Kit (Plugs and plug wires)
Should be a busy day or two once I get the truck back

Got the truck back on Monday.
Coolant and brake fluid flushed. Diff bleeders still seized, going to tackle those springtime as there are no leaks in the system and everything works fine for the time being. Transmission has been serviced as well.
Parrot Bluetooth Kit is going back to Amazon as there are no adaptors for it and hardwiring the kit would take 4 labor hours to do... I'll just upgrade to a bluetooth headunit and get some modern functionality out of it. Just need to see what the easiest upgrade path will be.
Next up is doing the rest of the maintenance (valve covers, plugs, diff fluids, etc) and repairing my sagging headliner. Making progress feels good!

Would have installed my passenger side cupholder as well but I didnt realize that side air vent was broken and cobbled together enough to stay in place.
Anyone have a spare passenger side air vent for sale lol
But seriously, these mount solidly and are perfectly positioned. They wont hold a extra large big gulp but my daily coffee tumbler or a bottle of water fit just fine

How do you plan on fixing the sagging head liner ?

Im going to ask around a little more because $700 sounds a little excessive. I need to run the microphone wire for whatever bluetooth head unit i'm going to install as well as possible a front and rear dash cam so I'm not in a terrible rush but it needs to get done as the rear is in worse condition than I originally thought.
I really wanted to go with a dark gray alcantara but scrapped that idea because I'd have to redo all the handles, visors, etc to match and that would just be more trouble than its worth.
Asked because my 1999 E class is sagging and was hoping to learn from you.
I have purchased some upholstery pins on Amazon for this purpose but have not done it yet. Not certain how it will look afterwards, it is the cheapest method I know of for now.

I gave them the tranny/brake/coolant flush as a thank you for hooking me up with the shop in New Hampshire that performed my PPI.
Oil changes are $129.73 at the specialist and the "Oil Change Kit" from FCP is $84.24. I figure its not too bad to have them do the oil change every other oil change and have their professional opinion on any maintenance that needs to be done.
Im getting a shopping cart together from FCP right now

why not flush the brake lines yourself? One of the easiest DIY service items.

Big modification today!!!
Ebay Lock Pins

When I tightened them all the way down they would be way too recessed in the hole so I applied some blue loctite and adjusted them to where I wanted them to sit flush when locked.
Another plus with these is that it should be considerably easier to reinstall door panels now as I hear it can be tough to fish the threaded pins back through the holes because they are too short? That was a good enough excuse to justify $29 cost

Bought it on Amazon. Grey stitching model was on sale as it matches my Designo stitching pretty well it worked out!
While im loving the truck more and more with each mile I drive it, it could use all the additional storage space I fan free up.
Should be able to get it up on the lift tomorrow after work and get started on the diff and transfer case fluids

Had an issue with the drivers seat bottom cushion not moving. Bought a seat control panel from Ebay and swapped it out, seat works fine now :-)
Took some pics of the undercarriage to document the current rust situation. It looks worse than it is. Needs a bit of love but i’ll get to that this coming spring/summer

I dont think it would help my 5 and 3 year olds get in/out of truck if I lifted it so that may wait for a couple years. (Plenty to do in the meantime)
The good thing is that there would be plenty of room to get in the garage with a roof rack & a lift but any roof rack items would have to be loaded outside before a trip lol
If any of you guys/gals viewing my pictures see something that needs attention, please do not hesitate to speak up!

10 min in the parking lot at work and:
put everything back together except the Command unit. Parts will be here on Wednesday!

As I need to refinish a couple spots on the truck due to peeling clear coat, i’ll have the rear glass removed and rust addressed while im in there
