DGI’s 2005 G55 Ownership Log

Drivers door lock stopped working (not sure if I mentioned that before) but i picked up a new actuator from the local dealership for $108 and need to find time to install it
Ordered a blade for my second key at the same time and it was only $15!!! Still need to pick it up (been busy at work)
Error screen popped up two days ago saying “light sensor fault, drive to workshop”. Truck drives fine and no exterior lights are out so i’ll deal with it after the holidays.
loaded up some trash to bring to dump today. Alot of utility in this beast!

Turns out front door locks were sticking due to weather. A little bit of lube and all the locks are working just fine now
Got the spare tire cover off yesterday. Found a replacement lock set on fourbyfourclub for $89. Its on its way
Sensor error was cleared and has not come back. Not sure what that was but it seems to be gone (for now?)
Im considering selling the truck for something with a useable third row seat since my wife’s GX is a little tight back there (and it doesnt have child seat anchors in third row)
Anyone interested can PM me.

when locking/unlocking my truck i would hear alot of metal rubbing against metal. I just sprayed all the moving joints with some fluid film and a little onto the actuator also and so far so good.
doubt its a “proper” fix but so far so good

still waiting on spare tire cover lock. Paint could use a correction. Was going to have it done when I refinish the fender and sunroof (clear coat cracking)

If the G sells we're shopping either a GL63 or a LX570 for her and i'll take over driving the GX earlier than planned.
I really dig the G and if I cant get near my asking price it'll stick around without complaint. I'd love to see the refinishing projects through and drive it for at least a full year but we'll see how the interested parties play out

I wish many many miles of memories for him and his growing family! Hope he continues a thread with his experiences as well :-)
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
I am in the process of relocating to the PNW once this COVID situation goes full circle, and looking to add a 2005 G55 to my E63 W211, to have two period AMGs and a more capable vehicle outside of LA.
Hoping to find more people on this forum that wrench themselves so I can enjoy my build with others that are hands on.
Again, thank you so much for being so patient and working with me to get the deal done. From waiting for the banks, to waiting for the mail, to waiting to see if we would be quarantined and locked down.
I'll continue what you started and document the maintenance, modification, and adventures with the truck and try to use it to its full potential.
I started a thread here to document my journey.
Keep in touch and maybe one day we'll see you back in a G!

It might be a while but i'll be back for sure. Hard to beat the packaging/abilities of this package. Not sure theres a better motor to pair with the W463 chassis as the M113K offers plenty of power as well as ease of maintenance. I can not imagine doing a spark plug swap on the newer turbo motors LOL
Either way, Enjoy the truck and stay in touch as well!
