2020 G63
2020 USA price change again?

I'm almost certain that, last time I looked, the MY2020 G63 in the US was $152,500 base. Now it seems to be $156,450.

Did I miss something? :\

You're not seeing things - it did go up.
Pretty strange considering MY20 has been on sale a while now, I guess new ones coming in to dealers will have the new price on the window sticker.

I have a late Feb. build date for mine and the base MSRP on the build sheet I was just sent is $152,500. Better be the base price on sticker when it arrives in April..

I have a late Jan build, and the last build sheet I got from my dealer said $152,500 also. I just reached out to him to see if it's changed, or if the MBUSA site is just horked.

So, just got confirmation from my dealer. Pricing increased by $3,950 effective today, so any undelivered orders will have the new pricing

(@jamesszzz - just got my updated build sheet, and price has increased on it)

Wouldn't hurt to ask your dealer if they're willing to sell based on the previously agreed on MSRP.

LOL. Right. They just pointed out that there was a variable pricing disclaimer on the order form.

Did you already put in your order? I would walk if they decided to raise the price after your order was in.

Well, in fairness, it's MB USA that's raised the price vs the dealership. What's the benefit in walking away? If I want a G63, and I do, that's the price I'll have to pay now anyway...

Thanks.

How irritating. My order was originally placed for a 2019 model when base was $147,500 w/ total build price at $162k or so. My build is now pushing $180k with new option offerings + two price increases and crossing that line does not excite me. Have never even driven one and hope it's $180k awesome when it arrives.

I received the same price increase notification yesterday from my sales rep. My vehicle is at the port in Baltimore getting ready for shipment...and now the price increase! The good news for those who are leasing is that 53% of the increase should go to the residual value calculation. Not an even swap but it helps.

What BS. Submitted and accepted orders should be delivered at the price that was in effect at that time. And 2 increases for 2020?! If I did not want one so bad I would walk. At least it appears the option prices did not increase.

At the very least anyone affected should go here and vent their displeasure to MB: https://mercedes-benz.custhelp.com/app/ask

I selected "Sales" than Pricing" and told them I am not happy with another 2020 price increase, especially after I placed an order - pricing at the time of an order should be honored!

This is a tough one. Benz realizing they underpriced the G a bit. I do not see anyone selling under MSRP at the time or purchase (unless you have an incredible relationship with your dealer). I just cant see this being humored.

I ordered when it was $147, it went to $152. Never was it humored I might pay the $147. At the same time, when MSRP moved up, they did lower the price of a few "options" and included some options as "standard" (like they didnt charge for the other screen) . Unsure what you will get in the new price, but have hope that some of the $4k increase is offset.

Nevertheless, don't be swayed, the $4k increase is minimal and the G is well priced for the build quality and what you get.

I think you are reaching with "well priced" there.

Totally reaching :-)

I don't intend to be contentious, if anything sympathetic. "Fairly priced" or "market priced" better wording? For forum post sake, my opinions :-) Keep in mind, I never bought a car much over $100 and do not intend to again.

When I reached up from the rest of the AMGs around $100k (like the GLEs or GTs), the G63 feels like so much more vehicle is in hand. All the components are well built, the build quality feels so much more sturdy, and strong. And then you have the rarity of the G and its standout qualities. $150k territory feels 'reasonable' to me relative to what other manufactures are asking for their top of line SUVs, some of which are just garbage.

The G63 with all its standard options resides in between the Lux-SUVs I see daily and are dime-a-dozen, and those I rarely see:
Range Rover $110 or SVA at $175k (dime a dozen in NYC area, drives nicer than anything but just lacks passion to me and so so so many of them on the roads)
Escalade (not comparable), but well optioned $100k. (expensive Taxi)
X5M $115 (fun car, doesnt feel like 100k+ aside from speed)
Land Cruiser: $87k (Lots of respect for this car, just looks silly and overly large)
Urus $220 (cool, they are raising the msrp, does this compete adjacent the G tho?)
Bentley $170 (not for me, its a powerful Volkswagen).
Rolls $320k
Throw in some porsche and others.

Irregardless I think the same wait time (for short future) would exist if Benz charged $175 for the G. Althrough that would probably have pushed me into the RS6 :-)

I am with you on that one!. Just had Bray installed on my windshield. If anyone is in the NYC / NJ area, I can highly recommend the quality, service and pricing at Always Clean Cars. They have a ver nice shop, they have loaner Tesla's, their prices are very reasonable (average for any estimates I have seen). I will be posting photos this week on the ceramic coating, tint of lights and reflectors, bray windshield install.

Seems Mercedes is trying to get a piece of the juicy markups being charged by dealers.

at least it’s better than Canada where they jacked base price up by $25K!

Imagine already having to agreed to a markup...and then getting hit with this. Because you know the dealer isn't going to absorb this into their markup.

LOL got a response from Merc Corp. Basically told me to pound sand and take up the pricing with the dealership.

This is the response I received:

"As dealers are managed independently, sales negotiations are exclusively between them and the customer. It is recommended to contact the Sales Manager with any vehicle order concerns, as they are in the best position to assist."

In reply I stated that they, MB, set the MSRP, not the dealer, who is selling all Gs at MSRP or higher, and that I may cancel my order and buy a RR.

It’d the principle of it. If you signed a contract for an agreed price, put down a deposit, and they jacked up the price, I’d be pretty mad. Everyone has to decide for themselves if their G is worth the increase in price. The G63 is a special unicorn and I could see the justification in eating the price increase in order to be able to own one.

And my dealer told me it is what it is. I can either suck it up or they'll be happy to sell it for 20k over to someone else.
