Searching for CLK63 AMG BS and G63 AMG
WTB: 2013-16 G63

Good day all. Wanted to post in this forum as I am searching for a G63 (thinking of 2013-16 model years based on the price point for these in the market). Prefer the matte colorways (assuming it has been well taken car of), but also open to black, palladium silver, and steel grey. Looking for a 1-2 owner vehicle with a good service history, no accidents / clean with under 40k miles and prefer a CA / West Coast vehicle. Would like it to have the PA6 Package, and either piano black or carbon interior, but those are not essential. Located in Southern California.

Send me a PM if you have one for sale, or have any recommendations on vehicles in the market. Thank you in advance.

It’s for the Designo leather w/ diamond-stitched design and AMG sport front seats.

Make sure to check for rust. G's are notorious for this.

I appreciate that insight / guidance. From what I’ve read it primarily shows below the windshield, hinges on rear cargo door, around the sunroof and the door sills. Any other problem spots to look out for?

Yes, I would look at all the hinges and the area under the top mounted turn signals as well.

You probably already read this thread, FYI just in case - https://mbworld.org/forums/g-class-w...n-gutters.html

Thank you for that. I had thread through the a separate lengthy rust thread, but not that one - certainly some other problem areas to review. Makes me wonder if I should reconsider, or if with proper care can be a non-issue (or solely need to factor in the cost to fix in the analysis).

Rust in the LA area is probably much less of an issue than it is for those in the four seasons areas. Certainly check for it, especially if the truck came from out of CA. For me, maintenance history would be much more important as the G is a high maintenance beast. The test drive would also be critical - look for tire related vibrations around 60 MPH (usually felt in the steering wheel). Look for drive train vibrations (usually felt in the floor or pedals). Tires and wheel issues can usually be corrected at reasonable cost, but drive train vibrations are notoriously hard and expensive to correct. Lastly, I would invest in a PPI by a good MB dealer. The Star/SDS system can reveal many hidden (i.e., expensive) issues. I just bought a 2014 and it took me a year to find the right one.

If you really want one I wouldn't let it deter you. It's a hell of a truck and although can be high maintenance the thrill is well worth it. The emotional experience is unlike anything else in the SUV world. That being said if you do your homework and take good care of it you should have no worries. I'm in a four season city and simply monitor and closely inspect my truck every few months. So far I have no issues and am very happy with my purchase.

As for tire related vibrations, yes they do exist. Interestingly only between say 55 and 65/70 mph, then they iron out. Also, if I keep the PSI at 40+ all around I usually don't have the vibrations. Just super sensitive. Drive train vibrations, haven't had any.

Thank you. This will be my first G, so this is really helpful in what you keep an eye on during the diligence process. I would agree though that for any of these types of car maintenance history is crucial in keeping the long-term costs down - as they say you are buying the last owner(s).

As for your buying process, what were the best sources you found in your search for listings? Solely the typical Autotrader, cars.com, MB dealers, etc. or any recommendations on that front? But most importantly, congratulations on the acquisition.

Have always been drawn to these, and although they are ever present in LA (I think there are about 6 in my parking garage, including a few of the 2019+ model), just has that presence to it on the road. Good to know regarding your experience with the vibrations, so thank you again.
