Average wait time from deposit to delivery G63

Just contemplating ordering a G63 and wanted to see how long the average wait was from the time you put a deposit down to the truck actually arriving?

Thinking about buying a used 2020 maybe more feasible vs waiting for 2 years...

1-2 year range but almost surely 1 year plus unless you get EXTREMELY lucky, which can happen if you hustle HARD

It sort of depends on where you are located, and what dealer you go with. There are others much more versed in this than I, but my understanding is your wait time will be determined by the dealer's allocation from MB, and your place in line at that dealer. I'm hearing 10-14 months (so 12 average) is pretty standard. Some seem to be getting sooner, others are waiting longer.

Definitely depends on location. Here in NC putting deposit down in July at three dealers, I took an October build and could have had November and January build allocations, all at MSRP.

No way that happens in CA or northeast.

Dealers only sell to locals. They are terrified of exporters, rightfully so.

In my experience, the CA dealers are out of their mind, and their customers must not look around much. I tried offering a 2020 G63 (1,300 miles) and a 2017 G65 (7,200 miles) on a 2020 G63 (new, but different color than the one being traded in), and their offer not only stacked a $50K ADM on the new 2020, they low balled the G65 by $25K compared to what I was offered locally on it, and offered $15K under sticker on the used 2020. All told, they had essentially a $100K-$120K in extra profit potential in the deal for them. I told them I would have to be an idiot to make that deal just for a color change... No thanks.

I got real lucky tbh.

I called around my city which has two MB dealers, one is a smaller one the other is pretty big.

I purchased a few MB from the smaller one, so they were nice and put my name down no deposit, but since they're a smaller MB dealer, they get 2-3 a year, and I'm sure I'm not that close in line so it's probably a good year or 2. The other dealer is much bigger, but I don't think they thought I was serious and just took my name and said they call me.

Then I called a dealer about 2 hours from in another state, and I guess they happen to be a top 3 AMG dealer, as in selling the 3rd most MB AMG of any dealer in the USA, so they get a lot of allocations. My sales rep was really cool, she told me if I'd put a deposit (5K) I'd get one within a year, just because of how many allocations they get. This was end of August so I figured by mid summer I'd get a slot, but last Thursday she gave me a call and told me they had a February slot open and it would be here mid to the end of March. SO all in all I'll have to wait 7 months at most.

Of course CA. sent emails out to 20 dealers from OH NY FL and all neighboring states.

got 4 calls back and out the 4 2 wouldn't sale out of state. The other 2 I put a $5k deposit down (NY and and OH) and put a reminder on my calendar for 8 months from now to call them for an update.

also been reaching out to private sellers but not willing to pay more than $10k above msrp for a "used" g and won't pay more than msrp if I'm waiting 12+ months.

Used low mile 2020 G 63's are going through the auctions at $15-20k over sticker. Any smart private seller is going to know what the market is.
