19 G63 Brakes and Rotors ... cost question

Hey guys, I’m being quoted $7500 to replace the brakes and rotors on my G63 (front and back) .... just strikes me as expensive so I’m curious if anyone has had these replaced and at what cost? Truck has 31k miles. Thanks!

Even paying retail for the parts that comes to over $6K for labor. Is the mechanic bikini-clad?
Have you inspected the brake components yourself? I've never worn out a brake system in only 31K miles.

I’m going to check them myself , however the OEM parts are $4,100 at discounted retail (several MB dealers have parts websites and that’s the lowest I saw). They are quoting 1,300 labor which also seems high .....

Check autohausaz.com -- its price for full set of pads (front & read) comes to about $450, and a new set of rotors (front & rear) comes to about $1K. Even these are outrageous prices compared to what other vehicles' (except Porsche) brake components cost. Unless the rotors are scored or warped, they shouldn't need replacement simply because you're installing new pads. Even if there is a bit of scoring or warp, unless it's really extreme, you can take them to most auto parts stores and get them machined for much less than $1K. $4100 should buy you new calipers, new brake lines and new master cylinder, along with all the customer lounge espresso you can drink. I have only about 7.5K miles on my 2019 G, but the rotors and pads still look new.

I just went there but didn’t see rotors for the 2019 (can you post a link for that part?) .... that’s where it’s really expensive because they’re like 4,000 together. But I’m taking the truck back and will take to a local exotics guy who I trust. Thx.

Definitely have your guy check the condition of your existing rotors.

Thx for that, but those are for the G550 ... I have a G63 and that site doesn’t seem to have rotors for the 63.

Sorry for that -- I mis-read your OP. Hope your OE rotors still have some life in them

Also, I haven’t been able to find any rotors that aren’t OEM ... is it the case that they don’t exist? Are we stuck with these crazy expensive MB parts? 1k per rotor is NVTS NUTS.

I'm not familiar with the G63's brake setup -- anything exotic about the rotors (slotted, perforated, carbon, etc), or the pads (ceramic)? Do you know if the G63's components are used on any other AMG models?

I believe there are companies out there that make a new rotor from your rotor you send them, one company was in Indiana, cost about ~200 bucks, your rotors for the AMG is up here with the G-squared in price ~1k each) front pads are ~600 bucks, luckily those pads are available aftermarket.

Funny you say that because I have both a G63 and a squared .... at least I can believe the price for the squared.

but in any event, DIDNT NEED ROTORS!! My local exotic guy looked and said it’s not even close so I went from a $9k bill at the dealer to $1,200 with him for pads.

really really p-Ed off at my dealer. Spent over a million bucks there in past 4 years and got quoted full retail minus $300!

Please post more info about making new rotors from old, or at least where in Indiana they perform this alchemy.
