Issues with lower side moldings bending out on ends
I have a 2015 G63 and I have noted that the lower black rubber side moldings that run along both sides of the truck just below the doors and just above the side steps, are bending out or away from the body. It’s at both the front and rear above the steps and on both sides. At first I thought the rear passengers were maybe stepping on them when exiting the vehicle. However I noticed that the exact same thing is happening in the front which is in front of the front doors. No way any one can step there! And on both sides!!
this has got to be a known issue. Anyone have comments and will MB fix it at no cost. It’s an expensive vehicle!!
I have the exact same issue on my 2007 G55.
MB will not fix this issue.
Let’s see how wide spread this is. I wonder if a heat gun can be used carefully to heat them up and carefully add some adhesive and push back
into place. They won’t move the way they are now since they are very hard rubber
There's metal inside the plastic trim pieces, so it corrodes and expands. Easy to replace, there's a fold down strip that will expose phillips head screws. Look for rust on the body when you remove them, treat it before you put the new trim on.

if that’s the case is it not covered under MB warranty for corrosion ?
