Tire Options for 18" OEM Rims

What tire size is recommended for people still using 18" rims? The factory tires on my G55 AMG are 285/55R18 and need to be replacement. An internet search shows replacement rubber is limited to a single option. I use my G55 as a daily driver so road noise and longevity are my biggest concerns.

Stock G500 used 265/60/18, but I've seen a lot of them running 285/60/18. You can put Michelin Pilot 4S 295/45/18 as this person did: https://clubgwagen.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=22538

The 5 spoke 55 rims are wide enough to take a 305 easily..... and a 325 with a 30mm wheel spacer.

I run the toyo At3's on my 55 and find them to be a great balance of road manners, wet handling and offroad for non-hardcore trips....

Thanks for the responses everyone! I think I am going to order up a pair of 285/60/18's.

I have 285/60/18 BFG KO2's and I have nothing but great things to say about them. If you're looking for an All Terrain tire, there are lots of good choices in this size from the major brands. For more street-only tires, Yokohama makes a Geolander that is more street oriented, and the Pirelli Scorpion may have an updated tire that is close.

Somewhat related to tires... What are the correct tire pressures for both 18" and 20" wheels (both front and rear axel)? When I searched on the user manual that I have, all it states is to look it up on the fuel door, but the truck I'm looking at doesn't have that sticker there (most likely removed during the repaint process).

OEM size is a compromise given options and pricing....moving up even 10mm offers a much wider range of options...
Toyo is also one of the few both US made and speed rated to at least 109 ....living in TX that's nice.

pressure - I tend to run 38 front / 36 rear on both the G and my 80 series on similar tires.

Recommended Tire Pressure Door Sticker

GOBP - attached is an image of the factory tire pressure door sticker for a 2005 G55 AMG on 18" rims. I don't know what the factory pressure recommendation is for 20" rims so I can't help there, but I would look up the max pressure value printed on the side of your wheel and run a pressure value that is a bit below the max.

Thanks. Odd that the rear would carry such higher pressure than the front.

I've never looked at the sticker as I haven't run OEM size or spec tires but that pressure structure would seem to be flipped at best ? perhaps one of the collective can share light on why the much lighter end would require more pressure ?
