Seat covers made specifically for W463s?

I just picked up a '16 G550 last week and want to preserve the leather in the back seat as much as possible since that's where my dog will be riding. I already have one of those hammock seat covers on order, but I want some extra protection with a seat cover. Any ideas where I could find one?

None of those are custom fit to the G550 though...

Built 2008 G55 & one big 80 Series LandCruiser !
Escape gear out of South Africa can make a set - they did ones for my old 200 series LC to spec and they were fast and really durable...

I need something too. In the event you don’t find an answer here can you circle back once you find a solution?

Thanks and good luck

Weathertech says they make one for the G rear seat, but in the pictures it looks more like a generic rear bench style seat cover. Doesn't look all that promising.

I've tried a few different random Amazon bench style seat protectors and they all have left a lot to be desired.

Yeah, I was hopeful about that one, but if you look at the review, it says "I ordered two of these covers one for my Infiniti and one for my Mercedes. They are exactly the same. there is nothing custom about it."

I'm not aware of any custom seat covers for the G -- who would want to hide all that beautiful leather and stitching?

But here's reality. I have a 2016 Jeep Rubicon, and wanted seat protection. The first set of covers I bought cost a couple hundred and were made of neoprene. OK to look at, many colors, easy to install, but they constantly moved around and always needed repositioning and re-securing. Got rid of them and bought another brand Bartact for about $900. Bartacts are top quality, great looking, many colors, rugged and never need adjusting. The downside is they fit so snug, it took 3 - 4 hours to install the fronts and the same to install the rears. I even had to remove one rear seat in the process.

If Bartact made a G seat cover, I'd highly recommend it for normal protection. But Bartact is definitely not a seat cover you want if you expect you'll need to remove them every couple months to launder, which would seem to be needed for animal applications.

My point is that the custom seat cover that you think you want would be a PITA to keep looking nice.

Go with one of the universal or semi-custom products that will protect your seat, yet be easy to remove and re-install. Or do what I do -- carry Fido in a dog kennel in the cargo area.

Escape Gear doesn't show a fitment but I sent them an inquiry - I have a portable 3d scanner and could scan my G and send the file, but would assume there's a G in Capetown they could use.....

Ok this is not exactly what you asked for input on, however, I too have dogs that travel in the G and found a solution that works great for us.
  1. A storage platform designed by @shiann - he shared the dimensions in his build thread and it makes it a less than 90 minute job to build one of these.
  2. Memory foam mattress cut to size. You can buy generic sizes on amazon for pretty short money and then cut them to suit.
Amazon.com: Mattress Topper Twin, Homhougo 3 Inch Green Tea Memory Foam Mattress Topper with Zippered Bamboo Cover, Cloud-Like Soft : Everything Else Amazon.com: Mattress Topper Twin, Homhougo 3 Inch Green Tea Memory Foam Mattress Topper with Zippered Bamboo Cover, Cloud-Like Soft : Everything Else
  3. A folding step/ramp for the doggos to get in and out. Works wonderfully - easy to deploy and collapse - and stows underneath.
Amazon.com : Dog Ramps,Dog Ramps for Large Dogs SUV,Dog Ramp for Car,Dog Stairs for Large Dogs,Lightweight Aluminum Foldable Dog Ramp for High Beds, Trucks, Supports Up To150-200 lbs,5 Steps : Pet Supplies Amazon.com : Dog Ramps,Dog Ramps for Large Dogs SUV,Dog Ramp for Car,Dog Stairs for Large Dogs,Lightweight Aluminum Foldable Dog Ramp for High Beds, Trucks, Supports Up To150-200 lbs,5 Steps : Pet Supplies
I have added some clip-on fans to improve airflow for them, but don't have photos of that yet. Dogs are perfectly situated to look out the window as we drive, they love it.

Wow, that's a sweet setup. I like how there's still room underneath the platform for cargo. You've got me thinking now...

I have the weathertech it is a universal one but the size and fit is excellent for the back seat. Color match to the tan/saddle leather is really good as well not sure how other colors would be. The problem I had with it is the seat belt buckles are almost inaccessable as it comes, so I had a local upholstery and boat canvas shop modify it. I use it to keep kid crumbs and spills contained, not so much for the dog.
