265/70/18 tire on a 2017 G63?

I have alpha equipt 18” wheels (+25 offset) with tire size 275/65/18. I am hoping to get a slightly narrower and taller tire, but I’m unsure if stock ride height suspension can accommodate this tire size. Anyone use this size or something similar?

I was also looking at 255/70/18, but unfortunately I cannot find a tire in that size that is approved for a 9” wide wheel, otherwise I think I would go that route.

OD should be good - rim width will be the challenge. I ran a 305/55/20 with no suspension mods for a bit on our G63, I cleared fully with just minor rubbing on the rear fender liner, and that went way with a 31Mm wheel spacer. ( ultimately replaced with a offset rim similar to the Alphas)

Are you look for these as a snow setup ?

Tire Size Calculator

Anything under 34.5" should fit with no mechanical trouble. However, 34+ will likely throw off radar cruise.

33" are safe and can be done all day with no negative effects. That would be 295/65/18.

thanks!! So I won’t have any issues with electronics.

what about off road? I do take this vehicle on hunting trails and washboards, and some more gnarly stuff in Colorado. The current set up has had no issues with rubbing at full articulation, will the 32.6” 265/70/18 have any issue?

hey Tex, no I just don’t like the look of a wide tire to be honest with you, and I don’t like it when a tire sticks outside of the fender flare. Because the wheels are +25 offset, the current 275/65/18 has like 2 millimeter of poke. It’s not the end of the world, and I’ve done plenty of difficult trails with these tires so I’m happy with the size but was hoping to get a slightly narrower tire to eliminate that poke on the next set. I do not want to get a shorter tire and a 265/65/18 would be shorter. 255/70/18 is the same OD as 275/65/18 but I cannot find a tire in that size that can fit these 9” wide wheels. So figured I’d just go taller but I am concerned if the 32.6” tire would rub when off road under articulation or from lock to lock.

Gotcha - Funny as I run those rims with a 325 AND a 31mm Spacer... and they fit into the flares well on full flex ( albeit with a 4" lift)

But different things and ideas are great ! OD you're good, especially if staying thin up until 34" OD or so based on my old 13' G63 build.... I ran the 305's without a lift and did much of Imogene and some trails in Moab.....

awesome to hear, thanks!!! What was the aspect ratio and wheel diameter for the 305’s on the G63, and the current 325’s you’re using? Sure would be fun to go on a trail with another G…

It's hard to discuss offroad clearance, as its very unique to the vehicle and the trails you are on. @JACWAGN installed a 2" lift on my truck pretty much as soon as I bought it so I couldn't opine on a stock truck to be honest.

I now run 2" lift, 33s, Fox shocks and 1.25" wheel spacers and have plenty of articulation, zero rubbing.
