anyone have black Protective Strip Inserts?
HI, I'm looking to black out the side protective strip inserts on my 2021 G550. Does anyone know where to get these? I have a blackout package but it still has a silver line going through it that drives me nuts.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Did you see my "Desert Silver" thread?
You can ask MBZParts on Etsy - contact him and ask if he has the new style G Wagon Black side strips. I bought mine on Alibaba but a couple were a little short albeit I made them work.

Thank you. Yours look great! Exactly what I want to do. I really like the black running boards.
For the side strips. Was it a decal that you ordered? Or an actual insert? I like how you covered the reflectors on the side as well. I searched for MBZparts on etsy but couldn't find any sellers with that name.
thanks again for your help.

Thanks, I think it turned out pretty nice. The black side strips replace the reflectors so when you remove your old trim and reflectors you will just put the black strips in place. The running boards are wrapped, just the chrome strips, and I posted a thread on that (https://mbworld.org/forums/g-class-w...ng-boards.html). And here is the contact for Sam, the Etsy person: https://www.etsy.com/shop/MBZParts

You can find them all over eBay, although I admit I haven't looked for them for the 2019+ models.

Removing them is the easy part! Use hairdryer or low setting on a heatgun and warm up a strip and then just start at one end and peel it off. If they are like mine there will be a lot of residue remaining and you can try various methods such as Goof-Off, etc. but used that and I still could not get it all off so I just bought the new outer parts as well, which are cheap from the dealer. Those come off the same way and afterwards I used a 3M Adhesive Removal Wheel to remove the residue. Once done just stick the new black strips into the new outer strips and apply them back on the vehicle.
