LoL, I hate having to get the key fob out every time I get in the vehicle. Lexus and Toyota work the same way with remote start. When you open the door, the engine shuts off. I also don’t like that there’s no wireless Apple Car Play. I also don’t like texts not showing up on the navigation screen. Not sure if I can change a setting? I don’t find the seats uncomfortable. I won’t let anyone try to remove the sun visor after I saw what happened to yours. I don’t like the stop start feature. I also don’t like the steering wheel being jerked around if it thinks you’re too close to the outer stripping on the road, happens too often. I really like driving it, but it does have it’s quirks.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the steering jerking! It's very aggressive. I had a similar system in a Honda and it worked so much better, like night and day better. I turn that and auto stop off every time I start it/

my biggest gripes...
  1. have to turn off auto start-stop every time i get into the car. my previous F10 M5 would remember my preferred setting and keep it off without resetting itself everytime i start my car.
  2. have to turn off lane keep assist every time i get into the car. the system is way too aggressive and abrupt. i understand its for safety but i feel like its going to make me get into an accident one day.
  3. my car has stalled as i was slowing down to a traffic light. i lost all power steering and brakes. super scary. thankfully it has only happened once so far in about 5k miles of driving. dealer has no fix for it and told me to keep an eye on it.
other than the above... i love my G... wished i didnt have to deal with any of those annoyances.

I was upset to about the texts as Apple CarPlay texts are a pain, I asked the dealer and they said it doesn’t work with some phones. (I have a iPhone 12 Pro)

Anyway, I got it working today. If you have an iPhone, try this...(if you don’t have an iPhone, I can’t help)

Call up your Bluetooth setting, find your Mercedes and click on the “i”

That will bring you to another screen. On the next screen make sure the “show notifications” box is turned on. By default it is turned off...

Then enjoy your new abilities to have your text messages displayed on screen (or read to you) and to easily compose or reply to texts.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, I have a 12 Pro Max and notifications were turned off. Same with my Lexus, I had to turn notifications on.

I better add mine:

1). No memory for engine stop/start setting
2). No memory for heated seat/heated steering wheel
3). No way to turn on heated seat or steering wheel when remote starting
4). My window switches are plastic, figured at this price they would be aluminum
5). No 360 camera-or even the option to have it rather than the brush guard
6). No wireless charging (even though Mercedes stated that the 2021 would come standard with it and the manual states it has it
7). Blank switches (left of steering wheel and center console)
8). Lane keep assist is dangerous
9). No manual exhaust setting even with the AMG sports exhaust option
10). No Equalizer-just a “bass,” “midrange,” and “treble” setting

What I love about the car? Just about everything else.

I had to add an 11th...

11). The differentials can only be locked while in 4-low. In my G500, I could lock them in high, as well on past Land Cruisers with triple lockers, you could also engage the diffs in 4H. ;(

I’m also not pleased about not having wireless charging when it was supposed to be standard, Mercedes said, since I ordered it in July, it wasn’t included in the build, if I ordered it in October, it would have been installed. It can’t be retrofitted.

More I have this car then more I hate it, but also more love it at same time

1. No keyless option. Winter, carry many things and trying to take key and unlock car always make me mad
2. Steering and suspension, cant really relax when not very good roads, car want to go own way
3. Multimedia from past century, operate to CarPlay, that design to use with touchscreen, bugs when command not load CarPlay then black screen, freezes in whole system, long loadings, wired connection of CarPlay, at that time in A class MBUX
4. Parking sensors and radars - its just crazy, and when winter beginning with dirt and snow its just go crazy - insane, last time when I ride in snow its alert all time, then shutdown itself, then after 2 sec reboot system and again alert then reboot etc all the way I go, like a 30min of pleasure
5. Not feel reliable - already steering rack was changed, brakes changed 2 times and still loud as hell, transfer case was changed, many interior details was changed so already to many time spend on dealer, good that this all is free, but time and what will be in future dont understand

Agree with everything. I am so tired of the "normal" brake squeak. Makes driving around town embarrassing.

Exact same thing happened to me too as I was accelerating into traffic. Scary and dangerous.

I guess I'm lucky with my lane keeping assist..mine must be broken, it has never worked.

1. No wireless CarPlay, charging.
2. Speakers rattle sometimes.
3. Wood does not heat when activating heated steering wheel. Wood heats in my Range Rover.
4. Nav map looks laughably dated, not that I ever use it. Archaic compared to my Range Rover.
5. Crappy remote start...shuts off when I unlock the door. Range Rover does not shut off when I use remote start and enter.
6. Squealing brakes.
7. No keyless entry

Love everything else!

Sounds like you prefer your Range Rover more than a G Wagon, which is okay as G wagons are not for everyone.

It’s taken me awhile to get used to things and wrapping my head around the fact that I have a G63 in the garage.

The lack of keyless entry is a known entity and the biggest annoyance, but it’s unlikely to ever get changed due to the history of the door handle and closure system.

The infotainment is light years ahead of my 2016 RR Sport which was laughably behind the times.

My biggest issue is the concern over the windshield. Again thanks to this forum I knew going in how fragile it can be. The exoshield has already saved me once, so hoping it’ll continue to be worth the money.

I’m still under 1000 miles, so I haven’t even tapped the full potential of the vehicle yet. It’s not hard for me to think I’ll continue to own a G for the foreseeable future.

One difference on the 2019+ models is the dumping of water on the roof into the open doors! The worst is the cargo door. Pours into cargo area and on your head. The older models channeled the water. The new ones are just waterfalls if it rains and you open a door.

Oh wow, do we really have to toggle the AUTO START OFF thing for traffic stops, everytime we get into the car ?
Seriously ?

YES.... coming from a 2013 M5 where i could leave auto start/stop turned off and it remembers my setting, this is highly annoying. but i believe other mercedes cars are the same. so its not unique to the G wagon.

Oops. Thats going to very awkward.
My bmw Z4 2020 MODEL remembers everything, I just get in and drive.
So, it seems, everytime you get into the Gwagon, we have to switch on the AUTO START STOP and massager separately and then drive.

good to know that even 2020 bmws keep memory on for auto start/stop. the one benefit in a G is that the auto start stop is literally next to the engine start button. so i just have the habit of starting the engine and turning off that auto start/stop right away.

I purchased this https://www.midcityengineering.com/p...s-benz-ecopcm/
you let it run for 3 minutes and unplug it, I wish I would of purchased it in the past on my old G wagon. I have a 21 now and everytime i start my car it keeps it set to auto start off. It remember the last setting you kept it on.

Sorry for the delay in my reply, I haven't been here for a while. I am guessing you have the "comfort seat" option? (I don't)

I am interesting its only my car or its regular problem - that parking sensors are crazy? In my car they can start to warn even if no one and nothing is near. And its very often. Very laggy and stupid. So I am interested it is ok for car or I need to fix it?

No, it’s not just yours, it happens every time I pull into my garage. I also have them go off sometimes for no reason when I pull up to an intersection. 21 G 63.
