First Mercedes owner - G63
First Mercedes in my life!! And a G wagon, my dream car since high school, just purchased 2021 G63 Black Magno today msrp - $184,650 with ADM - $40k (never spent much money in my life)...
and PLUS with these add-on options:
Clear bar full hood (half body) - $3300
7 years / 100,000 miles extended warranty - $8800
4 years prepaid maintenance plan - $4750
Haven't done a research ahead of time before went to dealer, for some reason, I don't know and have no idea to purchase these add-on after dealer's strong recommenced.
At a time in that moment, sounds it necessary after listened finance manager suggestion, but after go home, and feel sometime not right in my head, need you guy's voice and suggest.
I am planning to keep the car long term, but thinking should I cancel these add-on options, feel kind expensive and not sure if worth it or not..

Oh boy. The only thing I bought was MB’s 3 year pre paid maintenance for 2300. You can skip the rest.
Take the car to a reputed place for xpel PPF. Don’t let the dealership subcontract the xpel install to any shop.

No problem. Also, this is a rugged truck. Don’t baby it with PPF and just drive the **** out of it and enjoy it. Trust me, when time comes to sell, no one will care about a few rock chips, etc. Most likely you’ll sell it back to the dealership and upgrade to another G in a few years and they will not care one bit that you spent 8k on PPF.

To clarify if you are talking about PPF for the full front (bumper, front fenders, side mirrors, around the windshield, full hood, etc) then $3300 is a tad expensive but not crazy. If you are talking about just the front part of the hood (so there's a seam in the middle) and fenders then that would be a rip off.
Normally I'd say skip the extended warranty and service and trade in before it's up, but with that $40k ADM that's money you won't see back unless you keep the mileage low and sell privately. I probably wouldn't keep this car out of warranty, so only buy it if you are willing to keep it for that long. Most policies will let you cancel early and get a pro-rated refund.

First time MB and first MB vehicle as G63 here too. IMO keep the maintenance plan as you’re essentially paying ahead and avoiding paying more for labor and parts due to unforeseen inflation, I got the maintenance and tires/wheels warranty as well. Already replaced 3 tires…it’s totally worth it.
I got paint correction and ceramic coating all over with custom ppf full front and all areas where rocks can hit. Also cameras f/r. Totally worth it for me as I don’t go through my custom ordered vehicles like a pair of shoes..

In any event, no point in having buyers remorse now, now is the time to enjoy your vehicle.
BTW, I called around to have the vehicle "paint corrected" and then a PPF applied and I was quoted $14k so the $3300 actually sounds reasonable.

After making its margin on the MSRP (~$30K) and the ADM ($40K), the BM shoves another $17K of almost all profit extras on you. Small wonder car dealers are regarded as such low-lifes. Bet you didn't even get a "free" MB ball cap.

what i did was full PPF front which includes mirrors, lights and pillars as well as the wheel wells and light up mercedes signs for 2,500. then i spent 500 for clearplex for windshield which has been a god send. i worry about windshield replacement and while i have free windshield, at 5k replacement, my insurance rate will either go up or not be renewed… and i wont buy the fake non oem windshields… so get front ppf and protect windshield…

You almost have to consider full ppf for magno. I imagine it’s easily over $8,000 for that and maybe $10k depending on where you go and the quality of the installer (edge wrapping etc).
Agree windshield protection is a good idea too, especially as they offer insurance plans for a few hundred that cover a replacement.

I appreciate your timing as I will be picking up my 21' G63 on Wednesday. I had intended on extending the warranty and prepaying the maintenance until I saw your 100k cost. I think I will just do the prepay on maintenance and call it a day. I normally never do any of these add-ons and I'm not quite sure why I am considering it now other than convenience and some peace of mind.

May I know how much ADM u paid for your G63? You can pm me if you prefer it 🙂 I'm still thinking should cancel the car since I only paid half, and the car still in dealership. After went home, clear up my mind, feel like 40k...it's too much for me..

Interesting! So you mean their margin can actually do $30k ADM if possible? I'm still feeling not good to pay $40k for the car, just feel a bit over pricey. Even though most of the dealership they claim their minimum ADM is $50k. I just paid the half of the total price, and the car still in dealership. Wondering if still allow to cancel it or not..And what does your mean "free" MB ball cap? Could you please explain that? Thank you for sharing your thoughts

Howl long you've been waiting after order? I've asked around local dealer for order one with MSRP, but either got reject or been told need to wait for like at least 2~3 years and they lost interested..

Read the fine print on your sales contract carefully, and consult an attorney if you need to. If you put down half of the MSRP or half of the agreed upon total sales price, and then you decide to cancel the order for your convenience, you could lose a substantial portion of your deposit.

But this is the buyer's dilemma -- I'm not willing to pay $40K ADM on top of MSRP for a G63, and I wouldn't trust any dealer to deliver one at MSRP (even though some forum members have achieved this, some have been shafted).

You have the right to legally rescind your contract under certain conditions according to Section 43 in the Motor Car Trader’s Act. Step 2 Study the provisions of the Motor Car Trader’s Act so that you understand your legal rights. By law, you are allowed three days to cancel your contract even after you havealready signed the contract.
I'm sure if the add-ons truly bother you, you should be able to remove particularly since you mentioned that the vehicle was still at the dealership. As far as the ADM is concerned, in my view thats an individual decision as to whether you want the vehicle now or not. It's what the market will bear and dealers across the country are getting this.

I was told the warranty can only be extended within the first 5k miles only exception is if the car is a CPO.

Yes it's a personal decision on what to do. Sounds like in your market it's not realistic to get it for MSRP any time soon. If you can afford the $40k and really want the vehicle then go for it. I'm of the mindset as I've said before here if you are spending $220k then buy a $220k car.
The dealer should have no problem canceling your order and refunding. They will easily find somebody else to buy it for $40k ADM. But I agree before you do it make sure you know exactly how much you will get back and get it in writing.
The problem is that allocations were already hard to come by and now there are even less. Even if dealer promises MSRP in 2-3 years it's hard to know whether you will actually see that come to reality.

I did not pay ADM......However, this was December 2020 and once the company store in Manhattan began to charge $25K, it seems the gloves came off for the remaining dealer on the east coast. My dealer began as well.
