Glad to have Gotten my G wagon on 8/12/21
So glad to have gotten my brand new G wagon on the 12th of August 2021, the day before the announcement on 8/13/21 that all V8 are suspended for 2022. Whew..
At that time I even balked about paying 10k over sticker for a brand new 2021 G 63 AMG, glad I did! I usually keep my G wagons for years, ( this is my 5th GAMG)
but since the overhaul of the new 2019, I decided it's time to get the new version. I did however, decide to wait until two years later to see if there were any quirks that
needed to be ironed out by AMG. The halt on production is not necessarily about the chip shortage or supply chain issues, if that was the case, MB would not be producing
any cars at all, it is mainly EPA certification issues for the majority of the V8s according to several reputable dealers.

Correct about EPA. No issues with the V8 in UK/Europe, still on sale

So many random things coming out from various dealerships I've spoken to. Also, the ADM is all over the board. I had one dealership reach out to me and asking $85k ADM on an allotment and a completely different dealership reach out regarding a build coming at the end of the year with an ADM of $30k. I've already got a deposit down at one dealership who believes they will get my build slot/allotment by the end of the year (but I'm not holding my breath on that one). All I know is that, while I love the G63, I don't love its enough to drop $300k+ on it.
It seems like MY21, is very similar to MY73 for the US carmakers....by MY75 the EPA had essentially ruined the performance cars made in the US

Guys, YOLO. Bought a brand new 2021 G63.
It doesn't have the night package. So there is some silver bits which I'm going to get them blacked out. One question I have is the trunk tire. The circumfrence is silver. Would it be possible to black that out as well? I think I've seen that part blacked out if you select night package.

Congrats! You can easily powder coat the spare tire ring and brush bar.
I would do full front PPF and windshield protection. The only reason to do full body PPF in my mind is if you have magno or if you want the matte look.

Was thinking of doing a full body matte PPF. Not sure. Regardless, I think I'll do full body PPF anyways just for sanity. I might also do full exterior ceramic pro, so it would make sense.
Need to do chrome deletes and might black out the grill + badge! Has the beautiful G Manufaktur Platinum white interior... so I gotta be extra careful!

The cost to PPF the entire ride, didn’t make sense to me. I am told it is not the easiest vehicle to wrap, so the price reflects that.
I think I paid 3k for everything I had done. I think a full PPF would have costed about 3x that…guessing some others with full PPF will chime in.

June 30, 2021 with 3750 miles:
Trade-in $216,020
Private party $231, 850
Today with 5095 miles:
Trade-in $236,670
Private party $240,790
The only two options Carfax cares about are carbon steering wheel and night package apparently.

Some dealers are telling me even exporters are paying $230k - $240k USD (~$300k CAD) for MY21... where on earth and how much are they selling these for that even they are paying over MSRP?

Exporters usually send to Asia. The North America car market is fortunate that we don't pay the prices that others do. I bet G350d's in some countries retail for $100k more than G63's here. G63's are probably over $300k retail.
One of the car dealers I spoke to told me about a guy who basically bought like 10 GLS450's a few years ago and wasn't shy that he was exporting them. Mercedes finally told the dealer that the buyer was banned. Buyer didn't care--he cleared tens of thousands on each one.

Russia, they love G wagons. My wife and I were on vacation in eastern europe and ended in Moscow a few year ago. Our hotel parking lot in Moscow had 80% Gwagons and majority were black and the remainder were Bentleys or RR. As a matter of fact the hotel, had a RR dealership off the main hotel lobby.

Another thing is I thought MB requires the signing off of no-export agreements for every purchase of certain colours of commonly exported models is that practice still a thing?

Hmmm I got curious. Since the originate country has a database of all the VINs, was it not possible or unless it was not viable for them to notify other countries that the car is seen online pinging the servers once it arrives to the imported country (I guess if they didn't figure out how to disable tracking yet?) then the car is flagged and be denied warranty and other services? Even before they leave the country, does MB not have a record of flagged zones of where the vehicle is taken to (to disable the tracking) and ports for export purposes? If so can't they notify law enforcement to seize these vehicles? Another thing I would think doesn't MB get red flags when suddenly their vehicle is trackable anymore in sensitive zones (like a body shop, port, etc.) (other than poor reception like the underground)

it’s not illegal to sell your car to an exporter. It’s a violation of the no export agreement that MB makes you sign. If you get caught you could get banned from buying another car from them. Also dealers who get caught facilitating exporters can lose their allocations.
