Does this only impact G63s or G550s as well? The article says AMG V8s so if they will still produce 2022 G550s then the value of those models just skyrocketed!

My friend just got an email today from MBUSA that his 2022 G wagon order is officially cancelled.

Was surfing the net
Found this, from a dealer chatting online
To elaborate a bit… the only cars still getting V8’s are S580’s and G63’s. We don’t know definitely about the G550 yet, if there will be one for 2022. If you are considering a 580 or 63 trim, just hurry!

Confirmed with two dealers that this is the case. No 22 V8 builds other than some S Class.
Said specifically no G Class V8 builds for 22.
Seems like different people are getting different info on here though.

Makes me wonder where MBUSA sends its execs to learn how to write such convoluted memorandums. No doubt it passed through 5 management levels, 12 editors, 7 major re-writes, and 6 weeks of processing before it was regarded as suitable for distribution to 382 dealership GMs, tasked with interpreting it for their sales teams. Small wonder nobody knows anything.

this is nuts!!! on one end, i debate on selling my 63 for a fat profit and on the other end, i know if i do, i wont be getting another one for a few years and if i want one, the profit i will make is offset on the buy side… keeping my G…

Agree, very awkward feelings
Owners may consider selling as well, this will saturate the market. There are already many used cars from 19, 20, 21, and new 21 that have been sitting at dealers lots because they were asking too much.
If someone is going yo spend 250+ on G, other options such as Bentley, AM, or Lamborghini will provide more exclusivity.
We know that the hybrid / electric versions are in the pipeline, will be both in high demand as well.
At the end of the day, it is the supply and demand rule. 2022 Will be very interesting year.

The contact at my dealer said, its due to a new fuel system upgrade that was supposed to be on the MY22 V8’s that’s preventing from passing CA emissions. MB is allocating all the remaining V8 blocks towards a couple models to get them out before the end of year, namely the G.

But the market will have a limit, I already called some dealers who have cars and they want 299k, this is more than 130k of MSRP. If a dealer has any allocation left, 100k over is the new rule.

PFL205.064 with M276.823 (Oil pump solenoid defeated)
It also takes time and money to restart a production line.
I hope this answers your question.
