Why? Some people especially in this target market don't necessarily care about prices, and don't care about speculation or depreciation. They simply want the car they want and are happy to pay whatever it takes
#155
Doesn't change the fact that I'm shocked.
I was always taught that you don't stay rich by burning your money unnecessarily.
There are suitable alternatives to the E63.

This market has shown lots of people with lots of money to burn though.

MSRP is exactly that - a retail price "suggested" by the manufacturer, and otherwise entirely meaningless. The dealer's asking price is reality and any ADM is integral. Divorcing MSRP from ADM implies they are separable and distinct. I don't know anyone who walks into a dealership to purchase only an ADM. It is what it is. If a vehicle is not worth to you the dealer's asking price, move on. You might as well lose sleep over the spread between MBs cost to build and MB's MSRP.

Otherwise you's be sticking to Toyota's if you want to stay practical and money conscious!

News from someone within MB… G production will continue until December and may continue into January and February. There will be a short pause in production and then they’ll be back in the spring/early summer with the same V8s as before.
The G is a cash cow for Benz but supplier issues are getting worse.

GT black series AMG
That's true but kind of applies more to when you are on the way up. Once you've "made it" and have a significant income passively or through business, people who have the means to indulge in interests/hobbies such as cars are not too fussed with an extra $50k here or there. And lets face it guys, an AMG at this level is pure indulgence regardless of whether a car is $200k or $250k.

I don’t need cite anything, to anyone. This isn’t a legal proceeding or an academic institution/publication. I’d prefer to keep a good relationship with the person providing me the information. All the info should will be on NetStar if it isn’t already.

does this mean the production of the gas versions will continue for the next few years along the lines with electric variant? similar to others like Bentley?

Without a source, your information is garbage.

Again, G production will continue to the end of the year, maybe into January and February. There will be a pause but it will return after a short hiatus thereafter in 22. This information was communicated by Mercedes to dealers last week. I suspect that many dealers/flippers will not share this info to create artificial scarcity.
I share this information so you do not pay the 100k markup. I receive nothing by providing this information.

My source has been reliable and I have no reason to believe things have changed.

Was told the same
but will resume in last quarter for 23 models
The delay will not help the long waiting lists, they were already at 2- 3 yrs and many dealers were asking anywhere between 10 to 50 k above MSRP with an attitude of take it or leave it

How do we really know when production resumes? If the chip shortage caught them by surprise, how can they possible be sure when production resumes? Or is the shortage a convenient excuse?
#173
How much time do you plan to invest driving yourself crazy?
It's just a car, a nice one, but not a heart transplant.
If it happens that MB starts cranking them out sooner (or at all), great. If not, I for one won't be jumping off a bridge.
Sucks, I agree.
All we have at this point is unconfirmed and (at best) limited information.
Time is a friend in this case.
Unless, you plan on spending an extra 75+K to get one now.
It all depends on your tolerance for risk and ability to mitigate it...

Material shortages are the convenient excuses du jour. Neighbor had a flat tire - told her my compressor was out of air due to Covid induced supply shortage.
