G-Wagon Returning for 2022 - Builds Beginning in May
I'm friends with my general manager at my store and he told me today that he just received word from Benz that GLE, GLS, and G-Wagon V8 models will make a return for 2022 with builds being produced in May of this year. He said that order banks would likely open next week with allocation sizes unknown. No word on E-Class's however.

Lol everyday we have conflicting information being released.
https://www.motor1.com/news/563863/m...s-order-delay/
Some people saying no more spots till 2023/2024, some people saying builds in May 2022. Some GMs (friend of mine works at Mercedes) saying no allocations until mid 2023, etc. etc. etc.

For the average person if they want a G, they'll have to wait for a while now. Like you said, those allocations are probably already spoken for before even being released.

YES - based on email to Dealer Management this morning - Order Banks for V8 Models "scheduled to open" Weds Feb 2 - however Dealer Order Guides (specs) not released as of today Saturday/Jan-29.
The Process: Dealer Order Guide Posted (no email pre-announcement to Dealers) - Order Bank Opens w/2022 Options (opening confirmed to Dealer's by email) - Dealer Allocation announced (by email to Dealer Management) - then email to Dealer's on "restrictions"/limited-no-availability particular Options

So many people that paid huge ADM's better cash out now before they are left holding the bag.

I predicted last week that used G63s will sell at a discount to MSRP late this year. I would like to amend that and say they will sell at a BIG discount

I have no dog in this fight - I happily took delivery of my G at MSRP in December and have no plans to sell it but the extremes people express are incredible. Prices are not going to tank below msrp. There will still be a premium on the car - not 75-100 likely but still a premium. The market will not be flooded with new Gs in multiples of past productions. And, I even suspect we see a noticeable increase in msrp when the new orders open.

Im sure for some of them its chump change and having the flex was worth it but for most $100K+ extra for no value added is a lot.

In some markets these things were selling with ADM before the 2022 cancellation. Why would prices tank even if production resumed pre-COVID levels?
Im not saying prices wont normalize, but I highly doubt anyone is going to score an amazing deal on a new or gently used G in the next 12 months.

The 23 will show some differences, rumored w higher MSRP.
At the end if the day the G is an amazing car, no other SUV , even Lambo AM or RR, was able to show this track.
The continuation of 22 G is a good reminder lesson to dealers to care about their customers, not about being greedy to make easy cash buy denying customers from ordering cars or asking for a high AMV.

Used market will taper, wont tank immediately as these aren’t gonna be w dealers until summer. ADMs will go back to $30k for new 63s and $15k for new 550s (thats what I was seeing across the board before the announcement).
