New 2024 G63 no AMG buttons on steering wheel

Happy w my new G63. First timer. Came from 22 SL63. But noticed my steering wheel doesn’t have the AMG buttons on the left and right to customize. Basically nothing there…. Any ideas? CA car

The older gen steering wheel in the G cannot have the steering wheel buttons and heat at the same time. But the new gen steering wheel was improved to make both possible. I expect the 2025 G to have it.

That’s great news to be able to have both.

So
2023 AMG buttons with a heated steering wheel
2024 no AMG buttons with a heated steering wheel
2025 AMG buttons with a heated steering wheel

Also, my 2024 doesn't do auto start/stop. Someone mentioned because of the chip shortages. I'm good with that.

Edited: I stand corrected as the prior poster had an AMG GT, not a G wagon. So none with heated steering wheel. Maybe on the 2025.

2023 steering wheel setup is the same as 2024.

Glad to hear 2024's still don't have start/stop. That started with the 2023 model year.

My G63 2021 has start stop on the wheel, you have to select it as you can choose different control options if that makes sense on the wheel button.

To clarify I mean the lack of start/stop started with the 2023 model year. I assume start/stop was present from 2019-2022.

I have a 2019 with a Carbon Fiber Steering wheel - heated and no switches to change exhaust/suspension/drive mode on left and right.

I ordered the OEM switches (Part Number 205-900-70-44) and will try to add it on (and retain the heated steering wheel - note the CF part doesn't heat, just the other parts).

Anyone else try this? Wondering if any special coding needs to be done.

Would be interesting to see the results. Keep us posted! I always thought the reason you cant have both is due to the heat damaging or overheating this part.

For the facelift, I think the AMG switches will be standard now and heating comes with it too.

Somebody on this forum was able to get the AMG switches installed and retain heated steering wheel but they were somewhere in Asia and it required some re-programming including help from Mercedes? Details are fuzzy but I know for a fact somebody posted that it can be done but it sounded difficult to do.

Done in MB Dealership in Asia

Mentioned in below thread that retrofitting AMG buttons is possible and can be done through MB dealership. Parts and coding are needed.

https://mbworld.org/forums/g-class-w...w463a-g63.html

Sometime in 2022 I contacted MB dealerships in Washington DC area, but all of them said it cannot be done!
