2024 G63 Phantom Braking

Came out of my 2022 G63 into a 2024 G63 2 months ago. Been dealing with the truck randomly activating the emergency braking system pretty consistently, 4-5 times a week. Notable when it's sunny in mornings. Had some really close encounters that could have been bad. Never had this issue on my 2022. Dealer saying operating as designed. Anyone having this issue and/or had some level of resolution to it?

My 2021 did it once when I was reversing out of my driveway. My 2023 did it once when I was approaching a railroad track in the late afternoon going 40 mph or so. Thankfully nobody was behind me because these brakes are strong!

I literally turn off the feature every time now right after I turn off LKAS. If you change it to late it’ll stay that way and maybe be better, but off always resets to normal next time the car is started.

Is it possible that the sensor that is behind the Mercedes budge need calibration ?

Hey! Same here. Happens every 60-70km, dealer can’t help. Did you find a solution?

I had a 2020 G 63 and now I have a 2024 G 63, and I never had this happen. But, I can imagine that it would be very disconcerting. My wife and I both automatically turn off LKAS 95 percent of the time when we start the truck (we forget about 5 percent of the time). How do you disable the emergency braking feature? LKAS is easy (but annoying) to turn off. I have a feeling it's more involved to turn off emergency braking.

It is a process but it’s part of my usual routine now after I turn off LKAS.

Home Screen then to go vehicle menu. Then scroll to assist and it’s the braking assist. Turn off.

A little icon appears on the dash showing it’s off.

Got it. Thank you. I think I read someplace that it resets back to "on" each time you restart the vehicle. PITA.

Yes off resets to normal each time, but you can set it to "late" which does save and that should mitigate any chances of it happening.

This happened to me a few times during my first couple of weeks of purchasing my '24, both during reverse parking and while cruising on the highway. When I had my oil changed after the first 1k miles, the mechanics told me it was due to dust/dirt/sheen on cameras and sensors (apparently they are very sensitive and pick up things the human eye can't see). He pointed out to me their locations on the vehicle and taught me how to clean them with a microfiber towel and glass cleaner. Since I started doing this once every couple of weeks, those scary automatic brakings have never occurred again.

Stay safe.

It happened once in my 21 backing into a parking space. I never experienced this in my 24.
