I noticed whenever I turn on my car, the settings from Assist Braking is turned back on and set to Medium, the Attention Assist is re-enabled, the Auto Stop/Start is re-enabled and Steering Assist is re-enabled. This is really annoying as the car has already slammed it brakes in some stop and go traffic and its the first car I ever had that did not let me override the response by applying more throttle, it literally came to dead stop for a moment and I was almost rear ended. At least let me save the Braking Assist setting to Late arggh

Am I not saving things right or is this all for future coding?

kit and works great. Bye start stop! Quite easy installation. 30 min work

We have been able to successfully disable and save the settings for everything except Attention Assist.

First, we made our changes, then we saved the seat memory. I think that did it. Except that Attention Assist keeps coming back. MB really wants me to drink coffee. Ok fine, I’ll have another.

Ill give that process a try.. For the start/stop button, im guessing the trim needs to be pulled off to access the area?

Idk about the Brabus start/stop.

But, suggestion: I just programmed an Individual drive mode that disables that and configures the rest of my settings to suit. Easy enough to turn the knob once and go.

It will save the Brake Assist to Late I noticed but it will reset it to Medium if you turn it completley off.. Attention Assist, and Steering Assist remain on however.. Ill give the Individual Mode a try.. Thanks for the suggestion

Just wanted to add to the Brake Assist setting. I concur that if it's turned off, it will turn back on at the default medium setting after restarting the engine. It's a safety system and as such cannot be permanently turned off. This should actually be mentioned in the owner's manual. It is in mine for my C63.

The other thing regarding the setting is that most people misunderstand it. Early, Medium, Late doesn't control the braking itself. It controls when you get the visual and audible warning before it applies the brakes. You should actually set that to Early. That way you have more time to react to the warning and avoid the brakes engaging. If you set it to Late, then there isn't much time between the warning and the system slamming on the brakes. In my C63 I've left it on Medium, which works well. It gives me enough warning and if I briefly lift my foot off the throttle or be more deliberate with my steering input it sees that as me being aware of the potential collision and doesn't slam on the brakes. With it set to Early, you may get too many warnings, but it's worth a try. These systems are calibrated differently between the various models.

As for keeping it off by default, sounds like a job for a third party coder.

To be honest, I find it very intrusive in the stop and go traffic where I live, I prefer late because I dont like the car telling me how to drive and I cant stand all the noises and warnings and takeover control from all the systems. For emergency moments its fine, so Late works best for me. Ill just hold out for coding for now, but you make good points above and I appreciate the suggestions.

I would almost venture to say you have some kind of malfunction if it ever comes on in stop&go traffic for no real emergency, unless you are constantly tailgating others and react slow when they come to a stop. I don't drive much in stop&go traffic, but when I do I usually just let DISTRONIC and Active Steering drive for me. There's nothing interesting about driving myself in stop&go traffic, but even if I take over for some reason, I never had it come on in stop&go traffic outside of 1-2 times where the traffic ahead of me suddenly came to an unexpected stop and it reacted quicker than I could.
