I got my dream car this past summer with my 2025 Obsidian black G 63 for MSRP. Not an expensive build, no fancy interiors, or 22 inch wheels but it had the Performance Package and the stuff I wanted.
The dealer had a brand new 2023 G63 4x4 Squared there and they are offering it to me for MSRP pricing and taking my trade in for my G63 with 3340 miles for what I paid for it minus taxes which is moot with the trade in. I do lose about $7500 on PPF. I've had mine G63 for 6 months and only 3340 miles. It will be the same for the 4x4.
The G63 4x4 has never been sold or titled. Comes with full manufacturer's warranty that started in April 2025 due to time. The specs and color is what I want. Wondering what you guys would do? Worth the extra $150k to get this rare, last remaining brand new ones with what I'm assuming manufacturer warranty. I don't drive my G63 that often, maybe 1-2 times a week.
Curious if these will retain value...
Per the dealer: the axle recall was actually performed by Mercedes-Benz before it arrived at our dealership. Most of the G63 Squared(s) in the market are manufacturer buy-backs. This is New with no history! It is 100%. There are no open recalls or campaigns on this vehicle.

Its worth it if you need the extra ground clearance. They are really tall. I've been overlanding across the mountains and deserts full time for over a year and there has been times I wanted more ground clearance that the 4X4 Squared would be fine with.
I think about loading/unloading and getting in/out. For me it wouldn't be worth it if I had the cash. If it had an air suspension where I can lower it then its more practical for daily city life. Or if it were dedicated to off-road with light city driving. Its kinda like the big trucks these days, How tf do people put their stuff in the back of the bed before getting into the cab? They don't. I'm 6'3" and I can't reach into the bed let alone even see what I'm grabbing at.

Thank you for your thoughts hardtop. This won't be for overlanding or off roading at all. Just wanted to own something unique if worth the cost. And I'm not as tall as you!

I havent seen a squared in Naples FL or Charlotte NC ever. I see multiple 63's and 550's. Id buy a rare Patek if you want an investment 😊

i never seen a squared of the newer generation. Just the old one. With all the problems with the axle breaking and the recall. Im not sure how many they actually sold or owners kept.

AMG2019, would you do it? I saw you commented on a previous post with the poster trying to sell their 2024 for 100k more than MSRP. I think this was probably the last 2023 before 2024 and the axles were fixed prior to delivery to dealer.
Just feels really cool to drive something so unique. But not sure if its worth the cash.
I would pass. The used ones have not retained value. They don't fit in standard home garages so most people won't even consider them. They tend to flip easily. There are reports of some axles breaking even after they were recalled and replaced. They made too many of them (thousands) so they will never be a true collector item. The $150,000 upcharge for the lifted suspension and upgraded axles and wheels is ridiculous and easy to duplicate with any G63 for much less and probably with better quality parts. Tens of them (2023 and 2024) never got sold and are still sitting untitled on dealer lots all over the country. Hundreds of them have buyback lemon titles further depressing overall value.

First, buy what you like. My 13 e63 wagon is one of 59 imported that year. So far this has no bearing on its value. I do wonder long term, but I drive it some and what will it really be worth with over 100k miles in twenty years anyway, so its really about now...You can also buy fantastic original amgs for not much money unless it's a one of one with a crazy famous heritage. Of course there are the Clk, Amg One, and SLS that defy the norm...but they are much more custom in their delivery

i want one. I considered upgrading my new 2026 when it arrives to portal axels. But then realized that you have to ship your whole truck to letech in Germany. when you consider that expense, the additional msrp over the regular g63, doesnt seem that bad.

MSRP on one is definitely NOT worth it. Low mile, clean title Squares should be under $300K. I'd actually push for under $285K since I know that is doable. Deals are out there, just look around. Your 2025 G63 should have a solid trade-in value with any dealer out there, so you should be OK on the trade value.
Salvage title trucks are bringing $240K-$250K. Not worth getting one in my opinion if the extra spend for a clean title is only $15-$20K.
As previously mentioned, resale is tougher on them because they are unique. Very tall, and don't fit in most garages.
All of that being said, they are so cool. I've lifted a dozen or so regular G63s over the years, and despite my best efforts nothing rides and drives as nice as the factory G63 Square. Their presence in person borders on comical. In a good way. I have trucks on 40" tires, and the Squared on 37s is every bit as impressive. You would not be disappointed if you got one to drive and are willing to deal with the limitng factor of the height when it comes to parking.
The LeTech option is cost prohibitive in my opinion. Buying a factory Square makes more sense, and this is coming from someone who was REALLY close to going the LeTech route.

The beauty of the Squared is the ground clearance is competitive with the H1 but you get way more power, luxury, style and class. There are plenty of places to take a Squared to off-road trails in NV and UT where as the H1 is wider and trails are narrow and get real tight, especially with bush unless you want to get out and trim to keep moving ahead.
Being wide has advantages. I wouldn't put anything on top of the Squared. I'd pucker up hard driving one on some of the trails I take my LR4 on. In my immediate area is a dirt bike off-road park built in desert washouts with mountains mixed in that people built over the years. Burms, banks, drops, jumps and super steep climbs. In my LR4 it was hard (yet fun) to get past the pucker turning down from a drop-in and did it alone but for a Squared I'd want a spotter to tell me if any of the wheels are coming off the ground. Being even higher up the driver would feel more movement I'd think. Either way its extremely capable in the right hands with the 3 lockers and all that power.

I have to say after owning my 2022 G63 4x4 squared for the last couple weeks that it’s one of the most complete and unique anomaly vehicles on the road. It does everything well, and it’s so unique and impressive in person.
Mine is G Manufaktur South Sea Blue Metallic on Black interior with blue contrast stitching.
I found my clean title truck that had the options I wanted and I am completely happy with my purchase. I came from another G Wagon and I can say nothing is like the G63 4x4 Squared. My wife has a 24’ Escalade V and I didn’t think I’d find a more complete truck, but this is it! They only made 300-500 of them for the US and very few are clean title. They also will likely never make anything like this again.
