Just called a good friend of mine who owns ENCINO MERCEDES and asked him. (I have been wondering this question as well) He just replied and said, "They have NOT announced it....YET"

For some reason, I cannot get to associate turbo with the G55. I guess Kompressor rimes better.
What would really be badass is for MB to keep the current 5.5 SC on the G55. That would make the G55 ultra special. Not a trend follower.
I think, though, the G55 will eventually get the swap.

...not sure I see the point in changing engines given the results they are getting with the 5.5 SC (500HP). The engine is bullet proof as is. I've heard the 6.3 is not a fun engine to work on. I think the tranny is the limiting variable now isn't it?
Who knows!

The G55 might have the 5.5 TT but I highly doubt it will get the 7 speed MCT.

Was just out of curiosity. Know someone that is going to buy 1. So i was thinking of advicing him not to get1 just incase the 2011 becomes the 5.5 tt.
But i personally think the g55 should stay with the 55 SC engine.
It has gone through like 3-4 facelift in the pass 2-3years its retarded...

Well, if the renderings of the new G55 that were seen a few months ago that looked like a Jeep Liberty are true, then you better get one now before it is too late (even if it has the TT engine)!
I'm hoping to time it such that when they release the new model I'll have time to decide to order an old version or a new one.
Would they just badge it as G55TT instead of G55K?

I went to an Invitation Only viewing, by AMG, at the NY Auto Show on April 1. They did not have a G55K on display, and only a G550 downstairs in the MBUSA Truck/SUV area
I asked a couple MB Employees about the G ... and finally found one who seemed to be very knowledgeable about it, and we spoke for about 10 minutes ...
He said that the G would keep its current engine for the foreseeable future ... he went on and on about the cost to changing engines, issues with the exhaust, the gear box, the tranny, Federalizing for the US, crash testing ...
He said AMG love the G, and are trying to keep the G relevant, by the changes they are doing ... but the current engine is a good fit, and unlikely to change. He closed with, pointing out the G was to be discontinued in 2006, and it was not, so ... "you never know?"
... but it very much sounded like AMG is not working on any engine changes at this time.
