G55 Rear dome light, can't get LED to work

Hi, I've swapped out all of the interior bulbs to LED (CANBUS) in my 2009 G55, but for some reason can't get the dome light to work with an LED bulb above the rear seats. It appears to be the same bulb as the front dome light, but nothing I've tried works. The map lights are fine with LED.

Does anyone know the right LED bulb to use for this dome and where to buy it? Is there some trick I need to do (i.e. turning off the car and back on in some way...I think I tried this but it didn't work).

Thanks-
Rodger

Try to turn around the LED bulb see if that helps...

Thanks for the response. I've tried turning it around to switch the polarity but that didn't seem to work either. Any other suggestions?

You need to add a resistor inline (between the power going into the unit and to one of the prongs on the festoon bulb). Just went thru the same ordeal on my 2011...now I got LED bulb all working in the interior. The reason why it needs the resistor (even being CANBUS error free) is that when you have a regular bulb in there you'll notice it gradually goes to full output (ie - dimmer) and most auto LED bulbs can't do that.

I bought all my bulb from these guys and they are the ones that pointed me the right way....

Great, thanks. I'll contact those guys right away!

Did you by any chance change the exterior lights to LED as well? I'm having issues with the marker lights. The rear work, but the bulbs are not a good fit and shake loose quickly after driving. The front worked at first when I installed them, but for some reason I can't get the to work now. I just had MB make sure the wiring was ok (for corrosion). Do you think I need a resistor there as well?

I've swapped out all the exterior bulbs as well...Top signal units, side markers, and rear lights. For the side markers I didn't have to add any resistors. Only had to add them for the rear signal.

I used these bulbs (got clear lenses and then go the right color bulb) and they seem to fit pretty well. You may try to just bend in the metal prong that touches the bottom of the bulb, that will make the bulb sit in tighter.

Thanks.

I actually didn't end up needing a resistor. The bulbs I bought from superbrightleds.com worked fine just plugging them in...dimming and everything. Not sure how, but they work. I recommend that site, all of their bulbs have worked great. Just make sure you buy the CANBUS option.

I like these guys as well. I bought several bulbs from them for my Infiniti M35S.

When I tried the CAN BUS for my '10, they worked wll except for the dome light over the rear seats. It comes on quickly with open door but then goes out, It will not work in conjunction with the rear interior light switch in the front.

Scratching my head on why the same bulb works in the from dome light but not in the rear light dome light.

I had that same exact problem...everything worked but the rear dome, but then I got a new bulb from SBLeds and it works perfect...no resistor.

I'd give their bulb a try and see if it works for you too. I have an 09 G55, so it's most likely the exact same thing inside.

You need to use a small flat screwdriver and gently pop out the entire light assy. Use the screwdriver at the end of each side and gently pry it the whole light out.
It will hang down by the wire. You need to then pry the light assy apart to get to the bulb in the middle.

I have not messed with those lights. Do a search for door sill lights on this forum and you might find it.

Those are called "Courtesy Lights", you need a mini-wedge CANBUS bulb for those, replaced them on my 2 G-wagons no problem, just need to pry out the casing with a screwdriver. Here's a link for what I used:
