My 2021 G63 AMG stalled in flood water which was not even a foot deep after going through a rain storm....No water ever entered the car ...no warnings came on ...car just lost power but electronics kept working. Its at the dealership now for a compression test. They noticed the air filter were wet. I m worried...what might happen next? How can a car w a fording depth of 39 inches /made for outdoor adventures can not perform as advertised??? Has anyone else gone through anything like this ?? Any input would be appreciated

Wow...did they explain how it could have happened? Are they covering the replacement? I had it happen on a totally different car, a Corvette, 21 years ago. It was covered by my insurance. So if MB does not cover it, your insurance probably will. (In my case I waded into what appeared to be not so deep water on a new road in Miami and the cool air intake I had installed sacked up water and hydrolocked the engine. I installed a crate engine with 100+ more HP and made lemonade out of a lemon, so maybe it's a chance to get creative with your G63 if the warranty is expired).

The car is back! Got a brand new AMG engine installed by local mercedes dealership. No other damage noted at all! Everything is well documented. AParently the water went in through the air intakes on top of the car after some one dumped a huge amount of water on the car during a rain event ( thats the working hypothesis!) Freak event per tech......What do you guys think is this whole experience going to do to the value of the car? I m planning to sell it in the next 3 months as I have another car on order

A new engine seems like it would be nice feature, but it would have to be explained.
Did this end up getting covered by warrantee or insurance?
