2025 G 63 - prepaid maintenance package

Trending Topics
unlike the extended warranty, I don't think the service plans are prorated, I think once the money is spent, it's soent, and you don't get it back even if you flip the car within one year. For the cost of what you spent on the car (2025 g63) plus any additional fees like adm, the percentage cost of this prepaid service plan is pretty small. It's probably commensurate to what somebody buying any class would pay for their service plan over four years.
what cost for prepaid maintenance would be reasonable for you to have already pulled the trigger?
The complexity of taking a car like this to an independent mechanic for routine maintenance while this car is under warranty is it it just becomes more challenging to get warranty work done from a dealership having to prove with documentation all of the maintenance and any dealership at any time can challenge that and it becomes frustrating, it's not a streamline process like some people would suggest that it is. yeah, you might save a couple hundred bucks on an oil change however the headache of having to deal with all of that can be insanity. Additionally, if for whatever reason, somebody's having a bad day in that dealership and says that your warranty cannot be honored because you didn't get appropriate maintenance despite your documentation, your day will be incredibly difficult.

Now, the extended warranty IS negotiable and there's lots of threads here about what people are paying. I think from memory I got 15% off or something but had to buy from a different dealer than where I got my truck.
personally, new car i'll have the dealer service for first couple of years at least as some campaigns and minor issues are often found.

I mean you pay $30-50k ADM on top of MSRP and then wanna save a few hundred on service costs by going independent? I respect people have the right to save cash wherever they see fit but I wonder how many of these buyers are taking their brand new g63's to independent mechanics in the b2b warranty period. Honest question.
I totally agree with you about going to the dealer for the first few years or for me at least for the entire bumper-to-bumper warranty., The in-house bulletin system and service campaigns can be invaluable and can really optimize the repair, especially when they know this is a systemic problem seen in many other vehicles across the board.
for example, people with the RMS issue, which this vehicle can suffer from as well, time will tell, have been going to independent mechanics who are at times unknowingly only replacing the rear main seal, but they're not replacing the oil vapor separators, and then they're coming back with repeat rear, main seal issues.
The independent mechanics don't have access to the Mercedes service campaign records that indicate the rear main seal and oil vapor separate issue for the M177/M178 engine series
Those that are going to the dealer for this work are getting both the oil vapor separator and the rear main seal repaired at the same time to solve the problem, hopefully permanently.

That said, this is my wife’s car, and I didn’t want to worry about unexpected service costs down the line. Prepaying just felt like one less thing to think about for the next four years. Your mileage may vary, of course.
