What's happened to MBUSA?
I can no longer access MBUSA. I now get a page titled Technical Recomendations which "recommends" that I upgrade my browser to either Internet Explorer or Netscape 6.2. Unfortunately, there is no link which will let me proceed to the MBUSA home page without first upgrading to one of the "recommended" browsers. Leave it to the Germans to treat a recommendation as an order!

MBUSA.com was extremely slow last night, and on numerous attempts did not work. It is not a client side issue. It has been resolved though, I just visited without a problem.

I think it has something to do with connection speed.
I have 56k modem here at work: no MBUSA. Browser is whatever version of Internet Explorer comes with Windows NT.
I have cable modem at home: MBUSA works fine.

One would think Mercedes-Benz would be smart enough to build their website in such a way that it will work on any computer regardless of connection and browser.

MB Smaretr Than BMW?
For the last year and a half I have been shopping for the perfect car. My MY2002 C32 is due to arrive at the dealer by the end of September (keep your fingers crossed!!). In the process of shopping I noticed that I could never access the BNWUSA site with Netscape 6.0 or above. A quick e-mail got me the repsonse that "we are working on compatability with all browsers, but in the meanwhile, use Netscape 4.7." NS 4.7 barely worked so I changed to IE 5.0 which did ok with BMWUSA--barely. I don't lile their site--personal preference I suppose.
Over the 1.5 years I wrote BMW 3 times abut the Netsacpe problem and got the same old "we'll get around to it" each time. In the meanwhile, the MBUSA site worked just fine. I started out thinking I would end up with a BMW and that Audi S4 would be a close 2nd. I can't say for sure how much difference it made in my decision, but the availability of data on the MB website and my ire at the BMW attitude about their website must have had an effect. I'm not sure that all major corporations have quite figured out what the information age is all about. I'm pleased that MB does at least so-so or better on that score because it helped me make a tough decision.
