Can we please get rid of obnoxious sigs?

Case in point: https://mbworld.org/forums/classifieds/187305-f-s-lexion-wheel.html

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know everybody is proud of there car. But, It's freaking annoying to see a 1024x768 image of it every other post in a thread.

It's just plain obnoxious.

If you don't like them - turn them off - under "Edit Profile".

True.

Most sigs are cool (like yours). But, then there's always a few that go crazy with it.

I guess one has to ask ones self, "Does anyone really want to see several photos of my car, every mod I've done, items I have for sale, and a list of every car I've ever owned every time I post a statement on the board?"

I think sigs are cool. Saying more with less is even more cool.

Awesome!

But...um, how is this an improvement in the user experience if "Each of these represent an increase in size over the previous standards." ?

I still think that 200px is too tall for my taste. I vote for 100px.

Here is a 700 x 200 image:

Imagine seeing that after every post:

Because the previous standards were tiny. Tell a mod to contact the person with the violating sig, then we'll see how cleaned up it is afterward.

Oh, and if you see people that are posting over and over several times in a row, they're just a post *****.

i agree...

when i try to read a post, sometimes a user with a wide sig stretches the thread to where i have to scroll back and forth to read. its a pia to tell ya the truth. i still see people with out of control sigs but im sure it will get old and theyll change it.

How do you like my sig?

I've had them turned off for some years now. Much less annoying that way.

My comment on this is that photo signatures seem to make the pages take longer to load.

It changes all the time
CQHALL,
I totally agree. Although I live in a very populated area between Sacto and San francisco, we just got whatever it takes for high speed internet. I was on dial up until about a year ago and pics took painfully long to load. I also think it is just plain rude to make people scroll through several pics of a car that pretty much looks like thousands of other cars except for maybe the wheels. Show me a real custom or classic, and I might be interested.

A real custom or classic may just be tacky...especially after seeing what people can do to these poor babies.

I was on dial-up for many years and managed to get in 4,000-5,000 posts on this forum alone.
