It may be a little late for this reply, but I have a similar color combination. Any darker interior does need to be cleaned more than usual, because dust and grime shows rather easily. (But that's nothing a good vacuum cleaner and a leather cleaner/conditioner can't take care of.)

I didn't experience any fade on the black opal exterior, and the sun can be pretty brutal here in CA. The only problem is that you will have a problem describing what color your car really is.

I had a 2002 C 320 loaner the other day: Black/ash interior.

I noticed reflections in the windshield because of the light dash.

I have a question, how happy are you with black opal. Right now I"m thinking about getting a c32 with a black opal exterior.

Black Opal

Black opal is a gorgeous color that held up well over the life of my car. However, it looks a kind of grey once dust settles on it, so I have to wash the car pretty often. And as with any dark colored exterior, swirlmarks show rather easily.
I must say that a lighter colored or silver exterior is definitely much easier to keep clean.

Other than that, it is a very elegant subtle tone, and you're unlikely to ever get sick of the color.

CAR WAS PRODUCED ON NOV. 3. MY SALESPERSON SAID THAT MY CAR WILL BE IN THE STATES IN 2.5 WEEKS. THAN IT HAS TO BE HAULED TO WISCONSIN. I AM THINKING I MIGHT GET THE CAR FIRST OR SECOND OF DEC. I AM HOPING THAT I WILL LOVE THE BLACK OPAL I HAVE SEEN IT ON THE OLDER CLK BUT NOT ON THE NEW 2003 CLK 320. WHEN I RECIEVE THE CAR I WILL LET YOU KNOW.

I have no problems with the black opal exterior. However the ash interior gets dirty quick... I used to have a MB with ash interior and it got dirty I tell you. Specially when you buy new jeans and don't wash them 3 or 4 times before wearing them. The jean color gets on the leather easily and it's hard to clean it which eventually stained the leather. Just letting you know.

What do you recommend then, PL599? Something dark like charcoal? Or is the ash still okay regardless?

All light interior MB cars at the Miami International Auto show after a week are FILTHY!!

Not only are the seat surfaces filthy, but carpeting and speaker grilles are just covered with scuff marks. What a pathetic display of luxury designs and colors in camauflage.

fyi

...The Show is running till Sunday.
