Is it only me or does service suck real bad?
Well we're just about to go to the dealership because yesterday they called but get this. They found the keylessgo key but the original Mercedes Car keys no longer work. Weird? I think it is. Its crazy.
The car has been at the dealership for far too long and my dad just lost his interest in buying ANY vehicles from Mercedes anymore. Its not just that dealership but all two dealerships. If anyone has had great experiances with those please tell me and who you go to. The sales man however when we bought the car was great, but after you purchase the car, WHAM, your on your own. Accord was telling me that in South Florida they treat him like a king because he has nice cars. I was wondering, isn't the SL a nice car? lol
Thanks for reading out this rant, but i really need yall's help in convincing my dad that we should stick to Mercedes but know even i'm losing faith in Benz. We are probably going back to Lexus the way its going. At least they care about us. (snicker) lol
At Lexus we never has to make any appointments of anything, Just walk in and they'll take our car, hand us the keys of anything we wish and we drive out. With mercedes you have to fill out insurance and so much other like we are thieves of something. And after all the forms and such all we get is a C240. Come on folks, at least a E class or something that was a bigger engine than the van... lol
Peace out yall, and please give me suggestions! lol
E-bay is for a quick sale, low ball bidders. Your best bet is to check out your local paper and see how much the SLs are going for in your area.
Btw, just got the car back and i'm back home now. The charge was around 900$ US money, argh, and they got to keep the car too! lol.. Oh well.
Does anyone know if BMW's service is bad or what? My dad is looking into the X5 for a SUV or the 760 for a sedan, but first he want's to know if the service and stuff will be like Benz's.
Thanks for the advice

As for dealers - it's a mixed bag. Sometimes you get a great SA but ****ty mechs, sometimes it's the other way around, sometimes yo get lucky both ways. My BMW dealer (and I didn't buy the car from them) has a great SA, pretty good mechs, and is so close that my SA has driven to my house to drop it off.
It's luck of the draw, really. But if you're not satisfied with service, vote with your wallet. (Unfortunately, like here in the BA, it doesn't always work, but at least you don't waste your own time).

PS: Re SLs - you should still be able to get close to what you paid, assuming mileage, etc. is ok.

Called my usual dealer and got an appointment set up in 30 seconds.
Maybe I caught the 1st place on a bad day, but setting up appointments at 10am should not be that difficult to handle. Not a good 1st impression, especially getting blown off.
They treat me fine...even tho I had my car in there 3 times in 30 days!!!!!
I'm thinking of going to LEXUS as well !!!
Apparently MB is not anything like it used to be.
1. When you're shopping/ready to buy a car, they both treat you like kings.
2. When you make an appointment to bring your car in, they're both very professional and courteous on the phone.
(but once you get to the service deptartment: )
3. Anything outside of normal service costs an arm and a leg... and then maybe your other leg too...
4. When you tell them about a problem with the car, you get the same "well, our techs couldn't find a problem..." or "it was designed to be like that..." or some other b.s. along those lines.
5. Nobody seems to give a rat's *** what you think/care/want... just leave your damn keys and get along your merry way.
Oh well, maybe its just me...
Sterling McCall Lexus (sorry bout spelling) they rock
yah thats with our 8 year old ls400 too. They treat you like.. you own them or somethings. Its wonderful. I wasn't there when my dad bought the car though. When we went to check out information on the LX450 when it came out we told the sales guys that we had no intention of even purchasing a vehicle much less a SUV and he still let us play around with the car. It may have been that we have bought many lexus's or something. Not sure. But lexus rocks. If only i could get my benz serviced there.. then i get perfect cars AND perfect service.
I went in to have them investigate a check engine warning, and they fixed a busted 'purge valve' for a mere $400. I figured I'd ask for a tire rotation since I was there anyway. The crappy F1s are howling like a wounded wolf, and the fronts are clearly more worn than the backs. figured maybe the backs would be somewhat quieter. God, how I hate these tires.
The SA tells me they balanced the tires only because the "good ones are already on the front". I was thinking 'WTF?" I want them rotated. I think I'll just go to a tire place and pay them the $20 to get it done.
To me, the SAs are professional, ploite, but don't listen to a word you say.
Another thing, I almost burst out laughing at the proce list on the wall. Now it's $155 for an oil change. Crikey!
