It is incredibly rare to find an MB in the US without a sunroof, but it was possible on some of those models. The 203 C-Class had a Sunroof package which wasn't standard but was ordered on probably 99% of the cars. The Premium I packages now have become like that for the cars where most will have it, but its not standard. Sunroof is standard on W204 C-Class.

A Mercedes without the moonroof (or sunroof) will gain almost 2 inches of interior headroom. That is why some tall drivers used to order cars without the sunroof/moonroof. The feature is now standard and mandatory on most US models.

Actually sun/moon roofs are not standard and most all models can be ordered without one. Its pretty much a unique thing not to find one. I have a friend who has an S Class without one and some years ago my dealer had a "fleet order" for about 12 ML's. All were basic no option cars with no sunroof. In Europe it is common to see MB's without sun roofs.

Sunroofs used to be optional on many models, but Sunroof is now standard on many models: C-Class, E-Class, S-Class, CL-Class, CLS-Class. Could be more, but those models I know for a fact come with sunroof standard. And some have the option of a pano roof.

Thanks for your inputs, btw what is the purpose of sunroof / moon roof?
Mine is a US model without sunroof. I needed the extra headroom.

The sunroof/moonroof is a feature many in the US want. What is the purpose? I didn't want one, so I cannot answer that.

Disadvantages of the sunroof/moonroof:
More weight.
Higher center of gravity.
Less headroom.
Less structural rigidity in roof.
Additional complexity, future repairs.
Future squeaks, rattles, and leaks.
Safety questions in case of rollover or collision.
etc.

Yup. US model. I did not specify it as such though. When I went looking for my car, I had the following criteria:

05+
Black
AMG kit
HIDs
Nav
Heated Seats (SO requirement )
Anything else would be bonus

Well, I found such a car but I was surprised when I found no sunroof (or other options). Still, the sunroof was not a deal breaker and I had all the same reasons alpinweiss had for being OK that this car did not come with a sunroof.

Take your pick:

1. More light into the cabin
2. More air into the cabin without dealing with the side windows
3. View of the sky

The biggest advantage I can see is that it makes the cabin feel less claustrophobic. I never realized how much different it feels until I drove my Dad's Cadillac STS that does not have a sunroof.

That is probably the reason a lot of people like the sunroof. On the other hand, I find the sunroof to be MORE claustrophobic, since it reduces my headroom. My head hits the headliner (on sunroof-equipped cars). But I am a lot taller than average.

Very simple, that car does not have a single option.
