AMG Badging

I know this post has been started before, but you know what, I am going to do it again. How many people here, are tired of seeing cars badged with ///AMG when they car really isn't. Why try and front something your car isn't. Be proud of what you are drving, don't try and act like it is something else.

Example: I am so tired of seeing punks with c240's and clk320's, new and old, badged as ///AMG when they aren't. Why does this bother me so?? It wouldn't if those same individuals didn't try and "challenge" with their imitation car. Just my HO...

Actually, I'm tired of AMG owners who are so petty that something so small as a badge ticks them off. :p

Honestly, and sorry for going OT, if people on the boards used the search function and simply kept topics to one thread, this place would have half as many threads....and I've got a sneaking suspicion that the multiple posts and non-searchers actually take up more threads than the post-***** threads that are so often complained about. If we all had the discipline to leave dead discussions be, ignored trolls, and used the search function we'd be left with-*gasp*just information on Mercedes Benz Automobiles with a dash of the OT comedy that adds flavor to this place.

end of rant... Nothing personal, but since this thread started with a rant, I feel it's only fair to continue with one.

Have a nice day.

And by the way, how old are you and does it really bother your ego when some punk challenges you in a "wrongly" badged car?

This is a problem?.

1).It's their car,and they are free to decorate it however they choose.

2).Are you annoyed the same way if they re-paint their car in a different color?.That's a far greater change in appearance than a re-badge ever could be.

3).What's your rationalization that equates re-badging with being a "punk"?.

4).My car's been re-badged with a diesel emblem on the trunklid... Am I therefore a punk as well?.

The "punk" is indicative of the "hip-hop" sideways hat wearing, bling, bling gangster wanna be, cell phone toting loooooser, who tries to test his BS driving skill with his BS AMG, and that acts all tough about it. It has been said before, I didn't feel the need to search for it, and instead felt like being a post *****, due to the fact that over the last few weeks I am noticing more and more of these posers. THEN when you say, nice car, and they proclaim to all that is holy that it is an AMG it makes them look like an ***, or should I say makes YOU POSERS WHO DO THE SAME, look like A$$es.. AND NO, it doesn't really bother me, I think it is hilarious that said losers are trying to play off something that they don't have. STEP UP, be a man, don't front your BS ride. If you want to "pimp" it out, that's cool, I'm all for it, but don't act like it's an ///AMG when you sure as hell know it isn't.. I am done ranting. Let the flame begin.

Since we have already gone over this in the S55 forum, I'm simply going to paste my comment here:

I don't really care whether or not someone wants to put an AMG badge on their car. I know, as a MB enthusiast, if the car is the real deal or not...

I should contact my attorney regarding Mercedes sold me a used CLK430 with AMG badge. Common, get over it people. It's not your car so shut up. Whatever people want to do with their car is their business (last time I checked, we still have some freedom left after 9/11). Are you a badging police or something?

I have a CLK430 with AMG badge. If anyone has a problem with that, go kiss my dog's a**hole.

As I stated, you're welcome to your opinion...just as I'm entitled to calling your opinion ridiculous, for it shares something with the same "poser's" mindset that you seem to hate so much---and that's putting too much emotional currency in a badge.

All I was requesting is that if you wish to post ***** and stomp on a dead horse, at least find an existing thread and leave it with a bump, as a matter of courtesy to those who actually like a tidy forum.

Oh and since the animal refrences seem to be coming early...

IBTL:p

Many thanks

I find it humorous how this always becomes such a heated issue.

What's funny to me is that the people who really know what an AMG is will most likely know that your car is not an AMG.

I also find it funny that these same people who are defending putting AMG on their cars would probably find it funny and make negative comments if someone were to post a picture of an Accord with an AMG badge.

It's your car, and you can do whatever you want with it. But I also have the right to laugh when I see a CLK430 AMG. :p

LOL, ah you people kill me (post whoring, like a *****). Yes, you are right, I am introverted and afraid of the world, boo-hoo.

Nice definition schwarzwagen, nice.

Self esteem issue? I am not sure how to address that. Actually I was addressing the x-gen posers who are "car tough" until they are called out. Which apparently is the norm now-a-days.

Revstriker, I couldn't agree more. All I am saying, again, hopefully for the last time, is the reason for this post, again, is I recently saw two more loosers, and it made me laugh. I basically just wanted to Rant. I am far from heated.. But yes, go ahead and put the stolen ///AMG badge on your 99 c240.. You obviously don't have a clue what makes a real ///AMG. That's cool. Trust me, we're laughing at you, not with you.

This issue is so stupid. What I love is that 99% of the people in the world don't even know what an AMG is, and better yet they don't care!!! I would even bet a fair majority of AMG owners don't even have a clue. I love to see Grandmas and Grandpas tooling around in their S55's. Do you really think they bought these cars because of the performance

This is very true. I was at a party recently and a woman was talking about the car her husband just bought for her to drive around. It was an E55. She said that she had wanted the E320 because she thought it was a nicer car than the E55; after all, 320 is a larger number than 55. But when she found out that the E55 was more expensive, she wanted that one instead.

She has NO IDEA what she is driving!

That's pretty much it in a nut shell. I'm not going to petition to have your civil liberties revoked, but I WILL point at you, laugh, and give you a thumbs (way) down. It's a hobby of mine to find all the fake POS AMGs and give them this routine, a routine that is always at the ready for deployment.

If the badge doesn't mean anything, why are they putting it on their cars? hmmm?

And another thing, new members signup to MBWorld every day, perhaps they have not been able to voice their opinions in kind the same way that seasoned veterans of the forum have, hence new threads of the same theme. So when people say, "we have talked about this many times GO AWAY," newbies that see this are less likely to post anything for fear of a backlash; perhaps the newbie had some really good info to share with the group...

Nubomb you are so right, sort of. Up till 5 years ago, not too many people knew what an ///AMG was. Since around that time, MBZ decided to cover warranty issues with ///AMG after signing them on as an "authorized designer", if you will. So now, all of the 'rich biddies" if you want to call us that, buy the car due to the fact that it is supposed to be top of the line, and mercedes reliability has become less than to be desired, so we'll pay the extra 20 - 30 k for a better car. That's really what it boils down to. I see the ///AMG selling like hot cakes. But, it's your choice to be a looser, I mean poser, I mean express your freedom if you want to badge that 6cyl, 190HP comuter as an ///AMG, but I will sure as hell laugh and give you the huge thumbs down...

Huh? Please do some research and learn a little more before spreading misinformation about the relationship between Mercedes-Benz and AMG.

Here's your homework:

I thought the 600 class was the top of line Afterall it does cost more

I also don't understand the comment on reliability. I didn't know AMG built the whole car from scratch I rarely hear about engine, transmission, brake and suspension issues in the other models.

For you chappy, you're right, the partnership began in 90, but MB didn't start warrantying the car till:

1999
Mercedes-AMG GmbH commences business on 01.01.99, with directors Dr. Wolfgang Bernhard (Managing Director) and Domingos Piedade.

Nubomb, you rarely hear about issue of reliability on regular Mercedes, than you must shut out the noise. Look on this forum, their are tons of complaints about just that. Then you add electrical, service, warranties. Man you are naive aren't you? And no, the 600 is no longer the top of the line. It is the largest engine, but when it comes to the general populous, it is the ///AMG that is thought to be top of the line.

As far as the whole car being made by ///AMG, no, you're right, not the "whole" car is made by amg, however the engine, trans, suspension, brakes, exhaust, interior, are all porvided, so basically, to me that is the whole car. Whoops, I forgot, the frame and skin are provided by MB.

Listen bottom line is, you're a punk if you badge your 30k car with a ///AMG badge when it really isn't. Like I said, go ahead do it, it's your car, but the rest of us will be laughing at you, not with you. Trust me on that one.

It amazes me how so called True enthusiasts sit here and don't become disgusted by the general populous placing an ///AMG badge on their non-///AMG cars.

You know what, I am going to go stick one on my lil' sisters honda. Maybe then she can be cool too.. This forum has yet to provide any sort of true enthusiast information. Maybe it is just the CLK forum that is lacking, man for MBZ Enthusiasts all over, I sure hope so..
