The problem: The software design of the communication module may fail to send the correct vehicle location for the emergency call system (eCall) in the event of a crash.

The fix: The communication module software will be updated by a dealership or over the air, depending on the model. The repair will be performed at no charge.

For OTA updates, I wonder if the system will advise one after the update is done? I know my COMAND unit notified me after it did a map update OTA.

I'm guessing we'll get a notification in email from the Mercedes Me webpage message section. I got one for the last map update.

Has anyone been able to see Mercedes Me subscription doing OTA update for 21V058000 without visiting Dealer? I called dealer because I received a mail today which specifically says that Mercesdes Me subscribers have no need to visit dealer however dealer says that I need to bring it in?
Last update on Mercedes Me is Infotainment update 3/21/2021. Would the OTA via Mercedes Me come some time later? Anyone with any success so far?

I noticed there is another ESP update recall which is coming up soon 21V071 (2021020030) . I am going to hold off dealer visit until I receive a mail for this and visit dealer for both recall at once.

For the last map update I got an email and a notification on the web page. I can't remember if I got one in the app itself.

The software fix for the eCall recall is not actually ready yet. Dealers also have nothing they can install at the moment. The OTA update will show up for the eligible vehicles once it is ready.

Thank you. Yes I was trying to make sense of the circled section in the image below which says Pending. This is why I was hesitant to drop the car to dealer just today and at the same time noticed second recall for my vin which might not be OTA but that one also shows Pending like this one.


I will wait for a few days more.
