does your MB dealer make you feel poor when you service your older car?

we had about 5-6 mercedeseses total
and every time we go to do anything at our local dealer we always get that snobby attitude from everyone like we are too poor to be there

the way they talk to me and the way they talk to someone with just slightly newer car is always different

like once our c class was out of warranty they talk to us like we are peasants and shouldnt be there.
almost like trying to shame us for having an older car
like they are giving us handouts when they have to fix our car or do maintenance on it
is that like their corporate training and sales strategy to shame people into buying newer cars?
(i studied psychology and sales psych a bit and was a salesman for about 10 years so i notice these small details all the time unfortunately)

just curious if anyone else noticed that kind of attitude from their dealer.

It’s not like the service department at a dealer charges you any differently than someone with a new car. Especially since they don’t like warranty work, which your vehicle would not have done to it. Sure you’re not making up this scenario in your head…?

When I'd take my '08 S550 to the local dealership for oil changes in 2017-2019, they loved it! Never once tried to "fix" anything, oil and filters, an easy "she's in great shape, just keep doing what you're doing.", and I was on my way.

This is why we have choice in who we spend our dollars with. I have generally had fantastic service when needed but I think that’s due to them being AMG and a lot of times they are fond of the car and condition.

99 percent of the work is diy or Indy for the harder lifts. Find a great Indy and you will maintain that relationship for life.

Totally inappropriate dealer attitude. Dealerships survive on their service department revenues -- every customer is important and deserves courtesy. Find another dealer who understands this or complain to the GM about it.

With the refresh just around the corner, I'd definitely wait for the '27.
When I was getting my '25 I knew I only had about a year and a few months before the refresh but took the deal anyway.
Now? with roughly 6 months left, I would rather wait.

I do all my own maintenance work, and visit dealers only for recall service. My experiences have been really annoying -- dealers acting as if the recall is my fault, when they're just pissed about spending shop time doing work that earns them only what MB dictates. The last recall was a simple inspection and remedy fix for a cable abrasion. The recall document described it as a 60 minute service. I arrived on a Friday morning and told them I planned to wait while the service was being done. The service rep said they could probably have the fix done by the following Tuesday end of day. I drove away and did the inspection remedy myself. Not exactly on topic here, except in sharing my opinion that most dealer service departments suck.
