little confusion with headlights

u know how some headlight covers for the benz's are clear (can see xenons/lights) and others aren't see through and just white....well i want to change my s430 headlight covers to the clear ones but my dealer says i cant...

he said it wouldnt work because i had xenons already, but if i didnt have xenons it would work but would cost $1150 to change....did i not explain something right or am i misunderstanding something?

because i just want a clear headlight cover...not a whole headlight assembly switch....which i thought wouldnt cost more than a few hundred...

any input would help!
thanks

You have to change everything because the new one is projector lens and your is not..........If you look at your headlight and the headlight for the year 2004.....is not the same..........If you have an S430 year 2000 to 2002....

enter, you can't just change your headlight cover to clear because your cover has a function... focusing the light on the road. On the new headlights the xenon projector lens accomplishes this task, therefore allowing for the clear headlight conver.
