leather or not leather?

I just ordered an almost fully loaded GL here in Montreal. One of the only option I didn't order was the leather package, my motivation was driven by the fact that nobody at the MB dealer was able to tell what was MB-tex or leather without looking at the sticker on other cars.
Now I have second thoughts, I still can change the option and I want to make the right decision. Did anybody try the MB-Tex on the GL (it is supposed to be full MB-Tex and not just inserts), how is it?
Any input would be much appreciated,
Thanks!

The MB tex looks similar to the leather when just looking at the seats. Where you tell the big difference is in the dash. The full leather is also applied to the dash area, where you can really tell the difference. The finish between the two in that area is like night a day. Even the stitching looks better.

i have rode in the MBtex GL and I thought the quality was excellent, way better than BMWs leatherette.

Mb-tex is high quality, soft, looks good, and will wear much less than leather would over time, but I still would get the leather just because of the smell when it's new. It doesn't really make sense to me why leather is optional on some MB models, the CLK's and SLK's come standard with leather, whereas the more expensive E350, ML500, and GL do not come with leather

The non-leather option if for all of the tree-huggers who want an alternative material that performs and looks like leather.

I wish MB would upgrade their leather to the Napa as their standard leather. I agree, the regular leather is not that much different than the MB-Tex.

Thank you again for the feedback. Listening to you, it looks like, I wouldn't see a big difference on the seats (not including the smell) but it would make a difference in visual quality on the dashboard. hmm, I thought the dashboard was coming full leather like the steering wheel even when not ordering the leather package option

when you touch it, you can tell the difference between leather and mbtex....the difference in the dash is night and day...... unless you have ethical issues with the usage of leather..... and if you dont mind spending the extra $, get the leather.... it will just result in a more inviting cabin.

Ok, you guys changed my mind. I just called the dealer and change my order for full leather. It looks like it was the right thing to do.
