Yeah, i decided right off that that 3-part series is a total plant by some Land Rover As$. Almost everything he said is the opposite of what all the reviews say...

Yeah the same one from Edmunds, pretty much a Mercedes basher. Only goes to prove that you can't take car salesmen seriously when they're talking about a competitor of theirs. The BS level is sky high with this guy and you're better off ignoring his nonsense.

Edit: In watching these videos I don't he doesn't say anything is "wrong" with the GL450 other than handling, but this is from a person that sells heavy Land Rovers that handled as good? What BS. I won't even get into the things about the seats looking at those thighs!

This guy states that he brought it, but after 1300 miles couldn't live with it anymore. Funny thing is he still has the dealer lot tag on the key ring, anyone else find this strange

Not him. The previous owners.

He's just test driving it. I think he works for a dealer.

I kind of agree with him on this. The steering is not quick enough to turn back to straight position after turns (this may be a safety feature and I have no complaint about it). The thing bothers me is the acceleration at low gears especially for starting up on up-hill. I took it to the service but they told me there's no problem with the transmission. Other than that, I love my car.

I don't think he meant the R. Rover handles better I think he was talking about the steering and actually how smoothly the steering wheel turned. I can tell you the Range Rover has servotronic steering so at low speed the car is REALLY easy to steer and at high speed it tightens up.

That being said I am going to have to bring out the flag. This guy is clearly biased in his judgement, whether it is active because he want to promote what he sells or passive because the GL cannot compare to a Range. That guy was pretty wild with his camcorder while driving he should just bring someone along to shoot for him.

Kind of like my '88 Accord LX-i? Why is this desirable?

I am not sure if servotronic steering is what your '88 accord has, this is different than power steering. At lower speeds the amoung of servo assist mechanisms is incresed or inversely proportional to speed. It is desirable if you want the steering wheel to be easier to turn at lower speeds, I personally would not find it as a deal making technology but they mentioned it in the video and on the thread so i thought it was relevant.

Its called speed sensitive steering. All MBZ's that have Rack and Pinion have it.

Speed sensitive yes. However Parameter steering is something different, close to BMWs Servotronic.

Or are they all the same thing?

Depends where I'm going.
The guy is an idiot. Somebody traded it in after 1400 miles and said that they hated it so what does he do? He takes it out and videotapes his INITIAL impressions. Give me a video camera and a LR3 and let's see what my INITIAL impressions are of that POS.

Exactly. I know him from Edmunds, he is a Land Rover salesman so that tells you his angle right there, that all MBs are junk.
