GL 450 tire size handling?

I'm picking up my new GL in two weeks and i'm thinking of changing out my stock 18 inch rims for something bigger. I'm looking at some 20 or 22 inch sets right now from OZ or Brabus and i was wondering how this might affect the ride of the GL. There's also varying tire heights. The dealer told me the ride will get stiffer. Can anyone shed some light on there experiences with ride comfort with these larger rims??

The ride will get stiffer when going from 18's to 20's and moreso 22's.

The goal with your speedo is that you want to keep your overall height the same / your rolling diameter the same.

The ride with the 18's was nice but they really don't fill out the body. The larger rims really give it a nicer profile. I guess my question is...How noticeable is the change in ride comfort? If it's only a slight change or very minor it would be worth it. But if I'm going to compromise the original integrity considerably then i'll just stay put.

To be honest, I don't know as I don't have a GL, but if it's anything like most other trucks I've driven with alternate wheels, the difference in ride quality is not significant. At least not from 18 --> 20.
Going from 18 --> 22" will be different though and I'm not sure if (I may be wrong) the air suspension can compensate for that much change.

20s would be the best choice, you can also buy original equipment if you take 20"ers.

I have OEM 20's on my GL and the ride is supe smooth, I do have the off road pro package which give me ADS II, so I don't know how well the airmatic will compensate, but my bet is you won't notice much if any at all.

Thanks Everyone for the help on this issue. I'm glad to hear the 20's are smooth. I made a decision to go with some 22's i found through O.Z. they are called GiottoIII. Once i get a chance to try them out I'll let you know how the ride is
