Tire pressure monitoring help...

I have been unable to get a readout of my tire pressure with the Tire Pressure Monitoring System as shown in the manual. Supposedly one can get a real-time display of all 4 tires' pressures. I have followed the instructions but no luck. Anyone had success or have suggestions? Also, what pressure are most folks running?

BTW, we absolutely love our GL320CDI! Our first Benz and so far all is well.

if you are talking about the new GL, then the live pressure display was disabled on that car along with most merc cars in 2006 for USA. It can be enabled with a star diagnostic system at the dealer.

I believe it was due to the high number of warranty claims from people complaing about fluctuating pressures.

Interesting......I will be interested to see if I can get that activated on my new GL when it arrives. I personally like the idea of being able to read pressures........

Another case of MBZ telling us they know what's best for us. I'd rather have the ability to track a particular tires daily half pound pressure loss over the course of 5-7 days due to a nail causing a slow leak than to have the warning come on after an accumulated larger air loss because with Murphy's Law , that will happen three hours into a six hour drive on the first day of vacation.
Even GM SUVs allow continuous individual tire pressure tracking.

AT first with Continental tires that had problems (too much to explain about here) my TPM was all over the place, and I was not too happy. Had it all from red background "Check Tire Pressure" to malfunction popups. I replaced all 4 tires and filled with nitrogen reset my TPM and fine tuned the pressures. I found that the TPM was +- .25 psi from 2 accurate tire gages. I have cold 34 psi that increases to 36 and remains stable in normal driving, start to push it and the heat causes 1 to 2 more psi. It works great.

That's exactly how the TPM's in my SRX work. You can actually see the pressure rise as the tires heat up. That's not enough reason for me to keep the vehicle, however!

Thanks for the info. I'll see if the dealer can turn on live display at my first checkup.
