22" Wheel Opinions?
Hi there,
We bought our GL450 last November, and I'm getting the itch to upgrade the 19" OEM wheels. I've searched here and on the net and have seen multiple pictures with wheels that all look pretty dang good, but none of them are quite perfect for us. The only real place I've purchased from in the past was TireRack.com, and of their selection the only ones I really like are the OZ Giotto III in the 22" variety. Does anybody know anything about these wheels quality-wise? We tow a boat a couple times a year, so besides looks, the load capability is pretty important as well.
I've seen names tossed around like Brabus (nothing strikes me as perfect there, though the Monoblock E's are interesting, but are a little busy for me), HRE, etc., but would have no idea where to buy or who to ask what fits our car. I'm in the Las Vegas/Henderson area if that makes any difference. We do 99% of our shopping online though, so that's what I'm most used to.
I'm also curious as to what tire size would work best. I'd actually like as much tire as possible, and was hoping something in the 305/40/22 would work well. TireRack mentioned that that size isn't approved (just 295/40/22 I believe), but I see a few people running the larger size anyway. Any drawbacks or opinions?
Any opinions on some wheel brands to check out that can handle some heavier loads are much appreciated! Beyond that, any info on who to contact to purchase them is even better. Thanks so much!

Tire-wise, you should go with 305/35/22...that size will minimize speedo error and Pirelli has that fitment in the Scorpion line.
Good luck!

Just as "boxboss" mentioned there are not many wheel options out for the GL right now. CEC currently offers both the Monoblock S and E from Brabus, as well as the Antera 361, 341 and 381 (which boasts a true 52 offset w/ no spacers). Also available is the CEC C856 wheel. The preferred tire fittment is a 305/35/22, which is load rated for the GL. Again, as "boxboss" mentioned, Pirelli does offer the tire in the Scorpion line.
Any questions let me know!
