Wiring ? for trailer MB Hitch

I just had my dealer install the OEM Trailer Hitch. They upgraded the rear SAM and installed a Pollak 7-way RV connector.

It seems that the connections are always live, which leaves my trailer lights on all the time (even with ignition off and alarm armed). The turn signals also, remain "on" all the time. Anyone experience this problem. Could it be a programming issue? I was thinking that the new rear SAM needs to be programmed to recognize the various signals. Please help. Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Mel

If you unplug the harness, do the turn signals still remain live on the GL?

I can understand the brakes being live with the ignition off, but the turn signals probably shouldnt function with the ignition off. Perhaps they tapped into an unswitched source for the power for the signals when they should have tapped into a switched source.

I don't have my GL yet... (April 26 build date). But I ordered the hitch receiver from the factory. I will be wiring up a trailer brake controller to the GL shortly after, so if I spot anything funky I will reply back here.

Yes, they remain live after unpluging the harness. It seems that the dealer forgot to program the upgraded rear SAM after installing the hitch. I will bring it in for service on Friday. I will also ask them to activate the tilt feature on the mirrors when reverse is engaged since I'm there.

NJ, I think that we had identified that we had the same build date a little while back... Its a race to see if they get to North Scottsdale first, or Denver first.

The one thing that I have going for me... Arizona is on the way to their Los Angeles preping facility. So the truck heading my way may fill up faster than the one going to Denver...

I remember now. I don't know if they use train transport to Denver (or both train and truck) but I have a days drive to Denver once it arrives so you may be posting first.

The race is on....

It seems that my dealer had to replace a defective SAM unit. They programmed the reverse/tilt mirror feature and reprogrammed the new SAM to make the trailer lights work correctly.

Good to hear they were able to fix the problem... Hopefully my experience with wiring up the GL and installing the Trailer Brake Controller will be a smooth one.
