The wheel's already arrived today. Looks just great, perfect condition, thank you very much for your help with it!

PS I was all set up for pictures - to satisfy BoxBoss - but the LiIo batteries in my camera are dead. Nutz!

DCRNA wastes no time! I know he's in Memphis - offered the wheel Friday and in your hands on Monday. What a guy!

Charge the batteries and let's see pics.

I was able to squeeze off a shot (no jokes, please!) at the dealership, where it's been gently dropped. See the original packaging that came along with it? Next time I'm in Memphis, SOMEONE'S getting a full dinner at the Rendezvous on me! And since it's ribs done right (meaning dry rub), hand washing before getting back in the car is kept to a minimum.

I will arrange to be there as well - make it a threesome? Oh, and wives, that's 6!

BTW, dry rub is the way to go.

I just realized I'll be on an I-80 road trip in the beginning of July - not an I-40 trip!

So go to the website and decide; either buy the dry rub and make them (you'll need cider vinegar) or buy them already cooked and packaged. They can be over-nighted!

By the way, the wood on the wheel is darker than the wood in the GL. My impression is, they only come in the darker walnut, and I don't really care; the MB Tex is darker on the dash and upper door, the wood can be as well.

Yes, the wood wheel is only available on the GL with full leather.

I still prefer it. I've driven my wife's RX330, which has a wood steering wheel, and it's really nicer to have on a hot day. Plus it feels better to me than the all-leather model.

So is it Rendezvous or Corky's for you?

They should be putting in the steering wheel and the chrome door handle cups tomorrow. It should be up and running by mid-day Wednesday. If it makes it up to Flagstaff and back, the wife's taking it to California for the weekend with the kids. Verde Valley southbound should be its biggest challenge, but she's not taking it on a road trip by herself unless it does the test run first.

I've already told my SA I want to take pictures of the two different hoses when I pick the car up. (And to leave the old wheel in the back - keep it or sell it? Hmmm)

How can you loose with choices like those? We have a great place down here - NC style BBQ. Dry ribs, not quite as sweet as Memphis style. Heck they're all good!

Wednesday will be like a second coming for you and your GL...hope all is well and perfect for you.

I have a 2003 E320 wheel (replaced by Wood/Leather), a 2006 S430 wheel (replaced by Wood/Leather) and a CL style grille for a 2003 E320 sitting in my garage cabinets. Looks like the MB parts shelf. I should just put them on ebay and take whatever I can get for them...

Hey, that plus this forum is basically how I got mine!

We've got a place here called "Joe's Real BBQ" which reminds me very much of Arkansas (I was living in West Memphis and Marion for about six years in the 70's). He uses pecan wood to smoke the meat, so it smells like what I used to get!

One thing that's always identified me as a southern-BBQ eater; I went into this one little place - now gone - which had some good hickory smoked stuff with a little kick and some good vinegar. They offered me pulled pork on a bun with a side of slaw. Any other good southern kid will know what I said - "Put it on the sandwich!" The guy immediately said, "Are you from the south?" HA!

A really nice shot of it

Here's a very nice shot of the wheel installed. I think the wood difference is fine - there's some shade differece between the thin dash trim and the rest of the wood anyway!

Wheel looks great, Sgresser. Believe it or not, while shopping, the Wood/Leather wheel was a must for me.

Thanks!

I appreciate all the kudos! I also posted some shots of the door handle chrome cups and the chrome wheels (those may have come straight from MB Germany, BTW), and road dirt on the hood, all in the top Sticky.

Checkitout!
