Gl 420 Cdi Mpg Average
For those interested in buying the GL 420. Here it goes my experience with my GL 420 CDI. Now the GL has around 3000 Km (1800 miles) with a mix driving, 70% highway and 30% city. My total average for the 3000 Km is
11,9 lts per 100 Kms (19.8 MPG) as per the car's computer. It is a very stong engine with lots of torque and for this fuel average is very good. Very reliable. So far so good. Some pictures attached

NICE! Glad it is working out for you. I wish they had the 420 here in the US... But alas, it probably would have been just a bit too steep in the pricing department.
Any idea what the premium is over the gasoline model where you live?

20' wheels
Thanks Dano. This SUV is the ideal for America, where big is never enough. This year from what I can see it will be available in the USA.
Regarding the premium I do not know what you mean. Please clarify.
Yes Oknish, they are nice. 20' original MERC and sold as an option with Michelin tyres for the 420CDI.

I think
I think that would actually be good if you are towing. For same base price of GL450, I feels it will kill the sale for the 450 since it will have the equivalent 0-60 and loads of torque with same milage as of 450

Europe Gl Prices
Ok Danno the prices in Europe for the GL base without any options with 19% sales taxes are:
GL 320 CDI - USD 88.850
GL 420 CDI - USD 110.860
GL 450 GAS - USD 108.270
GL 599 GAS - USD 119.841
Very bad for us. The dollar is at the botom now, 1 Euro = 1.36 USD.
Carl Lassiter my car has only 1800 miles, just started the break in period, the best fuel economy starts at about 10.000 miles, until then the engine is shaping itself. I expect to achive the 21 - 22 MPG by that mileage. Anyway your father is doing very well, 22 - 23 MPG when the RR Europe factory website estimates an average with mix driving 21 MPG and the factory average is done at a mix low speeds ....and very dificult to achive.
